Baby due in a few weeks. Don't know gender.

What are your opinions on these and can you suggest any others in a similar style? We like simple names, traditional-ish but hopefully not crazy popular (although popular wouldn't always put us off)

Girls:
Hazel
Ada
Martha
Robyn
Nell
Cora

Boys:
Max
Robin
Dominic
Sebastian
Oscar
Harry

Thanks all!

Girls - My favourite is Hazel. Its very pretty! My favourite girls names are Summer and Daisy.

Boys- I like Sebastian but not sure on the NN Seb? I like Finley, Riley, Luca/Lucas at the moment.

Tiramisu1 · 03/04/2019 11:54

Cora and Robin!

Sebastian is ok but agree that Seb isn't very nice.

holesinmypants · 03/04/2019 11:55

Hazel's my favourite too Smile I think that's what we're leaning towards, but it's nice to get other opinions - absolutely NO INTENTION of discussing any potential names with anyone in real life! Much to mil's disdain. Summer and Daisy are pretty too, thank you!

OH loves Sebastian for a boy. I'm on the fence. Don't dislike it but not particularly keen on the nickname options. Sebby maybe? Hmmm trying to steer him away from it anyway.
Same with Robin really, I love it but I don't love Rob/Robbie. Boy's names are hard!

Martha or Hazel!!! Lovely!!!
Not keen on your boys names to be honest OP but there’s nothing wrong with them- they’re just not ones I like (sorry)
Congratulations! Flowers

holesinmypants · 03/04/2019 12:04

Ha! Me neither. We already have 2 boys and have used all the names we like! Hoping this one is a girl or he'll be nameless!

Other boy's names that we like but are hesitant to use because we know other kids called them:

Samuel (Sam)
Gabriel (Gabe? Not sure about nn tbh)
Raphael (Raffy)
Laurence (Laurie)

Some great names there, OP.

I love Hazel, Robyn or Martha. They all appeared on the list for my DD1 and for DD2 due in summer although we've decided on another name in the end.

I really like Dominic from your boy's list. My favourite boy's name is Alastair/Alistair, although I won't ever get to use it.

Nowordsleft · 03/04/2019 12:24

I like all your boys names but not keen on the girls. Don’t like Hazel or Cora at all.

BlueMerchant · 03/04/2019 12:29

Favorite girls name on your list is Martha.
Not keen on the others.
What about Marnie or Polly?
Oscar and Max are lovely on your boys' list. A couple of suggestions could be Owen or Isaac?

RedFox695 · 03/04/2019 12:33

I love Hazel! Cora a close second for your girls names, not a fan of the others I'm afraid.

I love Sebastian, but not keen on your other boys names (sorry!) although Samuel is nice too.
Some suggestions for boys:
Jude
Francis
Edward (NN: Eddie, Teddy? e.t.c.)
Rory
Jacob
Isaac

MercyBodle · 03/04/2019 12:43

Nell is my favourite on your girl list, and I also like Robyn, though it feels a different style. I really dislike Cora.

I like Max, Dominic, Oscar and Harry on your boy list. Favourite is Dominic.

holesinmypants · 03/04/2019 13:21

Thank you everyone. Still no nearer deciding!

Hazel: I like and isn’t too popular, the only one I know is late 50s.

Ada: ok.

Martha: Fuddy and boring comes to mind.

Robyn: I really like this and again not popular.

Cora: Pretty and not popular where I am.

Boys:
Max: Nice but popular

Robin: Again I like this.

Dominic: Ok

Sebastian: I like but may find its popular.

Oscar: Quite popular where I am.

Boys:

BloominSloe · 03/04/2019 14:07

I love Hazel, Robyn, Martha and Cora from your girls list!

And Robin, Sebastian and Oscar from your boys list. I know a Sebastian who's nickname is Bash or sometimes Ash. It doesn't need a nickname though. You can insist on his full name being used. I have a very 'nicknamble' name but have always insisted on my full name and I've never had any issue.

How about :
Maeve, Iris, Eloïse, Flora.
Nathaniel, Gabriel, Silas, Tristan.

Calixtine · 03/04/2019 15:52

Great lists! I love Hazel, Cora and Nell for a girl and Robin, Max and Oscar for a boy.

DarlingLittleBabyName · 03/04/2019 16:11

definitely Hazel- this would (probably) be the name of my next daughter if I were to have one. a lovely short, sweet, classic and timeless name!
for boys I like Max, Oscar and Harry Smile good luck! x

Candleabra · 03/04/2019 16:26

Love Robyn/Robin - I always wanted to be called Robyn when I was little, thought it was the coolest name ever!

AdaColeman · 03/04/2019 16:36

Ada and Sebastian are my favourites by a long way.

I'm not too keen on Martha or Max but Hazel and Oscar are my least favourite.

starkid · 03/04/2019 16:42

I love Hazel (on my list!!) and Sebastian :)
