Was Clive the guy who married Daphne, the most wholesome exotic dancer of all time?

KurriKurri · 25/03/2019 23:48

I think that was Des Pinkie. Which begs the question ,where are all the Desmonds ?

PinkieTuscadero · 25/03/2019 23:50

Oh yes, Des and Daphne! Well remembered Grin

Lots of middle aged Des/Desmonds in Ireland. I would enjoy meeting a baby Des! He'd have to born with a golf handicap.

KurriKurri · 25/03/2019 23:52
Grin
tobee · 26/03/2019 01:13

Clive's back in Neighbours folks! He's now the head honcho at Erinsborough hospital. He no longer does gorilla grams. Grin

NunoGoncalves · 26/03/2019 01:24

only in double figures a couple of times since 1896

There's good reason for that!

bridgetreilly · 26/03/2019 01:42

Clive of India is a fairly major negative association. Like, people are literally campaigning to have statues of him taken down.

bridgetreilly · 26/03/2019 01:45

No wait, I'm thinking of Cecil Rhodes.

As you were.

Zoflorabore · 26/03/2019 01:47

My ds is sort of called Clive- according to my youngest brother anyway.

I have my ds's name tattooed at the base of my spine ( I know, I was young and stupid ) and it's in a kind of italic scrawl.
His name is Oliver. When written like I've described it looks nothing like Oliver and that's when my brother said " who the fuck is Clive? " Grin

MercyBodle · 26/03/2019 02:45

I like it. And I know a young one with the name - it seems totally cool on him. I think it will grow in the same way that Stanley, Sidney and Bertam are becoming more popular.

Joeybee · 26/03/2019 03:06

Clive does seem very dated, like Keith or Des! It sounds a bit like dive or chive too...neither of which are great. I don't think Clive is ready for a comeback yet.

Namechangemum100 · 26/03/2019 03:20

I know of a baby Peter, I quite like that more classic but non cutesy names are coming back around.

SpareASquare · 26/03/2019 03:57

Prefer the spelling Klyve frankly. It's even rarer
I find that the addition of a random 'h' always makes a name 'pop'. Klyhve. or Khlyve. Take your pick Grin

Whilst I don't much like Clive, I actually don't mind Clyde. Go figure. lol

Treefloof · 26/03/2019 05:15

Clive, Geoffrey, and Roy

Isn't that the cast of rainbows?

GabrielleNelson · 26/03/2019 05:58

Klhy've. A random apostrophe always adds interest.

NameChange30 · 26/03/2019 06:52

I don't like Sid either. Ugly name. And I know of a teenage boy called Sid.

NanooCov · 26/03/2019 07:18

There's a reason there was only 4 last year. No thanks.

GabrielleNelson · 26/03/2019 08:04

Poor old Nigel, tainted for a generation by that toxic plonker. I was thinking of the one I know, who is his polar opposite. Plenty of other decent Nigels too, but it only takes one, doesn't it.

parttimeateverything · 26/03/2019 08:46

Namechangemum100 I absolutely love Peter. I can't understand why it's not more popular.

daisypond · 26/03/2019 09:03

I know a Clive - in his 20s. Really fabulous and cool guy, so the name has very positive associations.

beanaseireann · 15/04/2019 09:14

I don't like the name Clive at all. Though I did find the actor Clive Mantle quite dishy when I used to watch Casualty.
The only Clive I know in real life is very drippy.

MollyHuaCha · 15/04/2019 09:33

Not a fan.

To me it's in the same bracket as Kevin, Derek and Dean - belongs with the questionable fashions of 1970s.

But it's better than Mason and Jayden!

Bumblebeesmum · 15/04/2019 15:54

Clive omg I just laughed out loud Grin

HamCheeseHamnCheese · 15/04/2019 19:04

Clive is a rubbish name, not surprising it’s unpopular
