IrenetheQuaint · 25/03/2019 20:41

Clive makes me think of a 50-something accountant who plays golf at the weekend -

  • which I suppose means it will soon come back into fashion, along with Graham, Howard and Derek.
brizzlemint · 25/03/2019 20:43

LIke Clive Sinclair, Clive James, Clive somebody or other from Iron Maiden, Clive Cussler the author, Clive Dunn, Clive Anderson, Clive Mantle, the author of stig of the dump and CS Lewis you mean?

There must be many more.

OhTheRoses · 25/03/2019 20:44

I quite like it. I know three Clives. All v nice people and all have a terrific sense of humour. They are 70, 60 and 56.

Or Julian.

PollyEthel · 25/03/2019 20:44

Clive of India. Not necessarily a good association, though I do acknowledge it was his surname..,

NameChange30 · 25/03/2019 20:45

Yuk

NameChange30 · 25/03/2019 20:45

Bruce

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 25/03/2019 20:45

Not a fan at all! Sorry, Bertrand’s friend Clive!

IvanaPee · 25/03/2019 20:46

Awful name! Who calls a baby Clive?! 😂😂

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 25/03/2019 20:48

It's like Nigel 🤣

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 25/03/2019 20:50

Prefer the spelling Klyve frankly. It's even rarer.

NameChange30 · 25/03/2019 20:51

Bruce
Clive
Derek
Nigel (Nige for short)

Peachbubble · 25/03/2019 20:52

It's a no from me

DramaAlpaca · 25/03/2019 20:53

DH's car is called Clive Grin

Almahart · 25/03/2019 20:54

It’s a terrible name

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 25/03/2019 20:54

I think Clive is brilliant.

I think of Clives as “suave”.

Like Nigel Havers. Or a Jilly Cooper love interest.

smartipants · 25/03/2019 20:55

@ThroughThickandThin01
my car is called Keith!

NameChange30 · 25/03/2019 20:56

Oh I forgot Keith in my dream name list, sorry PP

nancy75 · 25/03/2019 20:56

I went to school with a Clive, at the age of 9 he had a briefcase, I think he might have secretly been an accountant or tax man in his spare time.

PinkieTuscadero · 25/03/2019 20:57

Perfect name for a labrador. Not for a human.

BramwellBrown · 25/03/2019 20:58

I knew a guy called Clive who claimed to have been a porn star in his youth, it was not a mental image I needed.

harrietkatie · 25/03/2019 21:00

There was a kid when I was at school called Clive, he had a receding hairline at 11 and didn't like P.E, said his glasses used to slip off his nose. Poor Clive, I wonder where he is now?

ADropofReality · 25/03/2019 21:01

Doomed to the terrible job of retrieving lobsters from Jayne Mansfield's bum.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 25/03/2019 21:02

My Dad went to school with Clive Anderson. Apparently he was a bit of a bellend.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 25/03/2019 21:02

Now, Bruce is a great name.
