Seraphina - Middle names...

chiarazuri · 13/03/2019 09:14

I have been considering the name Seraphina as it is quite well known and I love the meaning of the name. However I am struggling to find a middle name that suits such a long and feminine name... I don't like the usual 'rose' or 'ivy' middle names, as beautiful as they are, as these are very commonly used now
Any ideas? Our surname is two syllables.

I have compiled a small list but I am really not sure about any of these..
Aria
Ava
Lara
Summer
Skye
Jasmine
and of course:
Rose
Ivy

I really like Josephine or Annabel.

Springisallaround · 13/03/2019 09:16

I don't think you have to go for a short name as the first is long. I would pick a nice name!

Seraphina Elizabeth Brown (or whatever your surname is).

Just pick names you like, I don't know any of my friend's middle names and I really hardly need to use mine except on documents.

chiarazuri · 13/03/2019 09:17

I like Annabel, will add that to my list, thank you!

Springisallaround, thank you, I agree! I am always worried about the judgement I will get for using something that goes against the 'naming rules'! My other half is quite relaxed about the naming process, so all the creative pressure is on me!

I don’t think you need a short middle name.

Elizabeth
Aurelia

chiarazuri · 13/03/2019 09:21

I like Aurelia, will add that to the list, thank you!

It's a lot of syllables, so a one syllable middle name would even things out.

Faye?

Marmite27 · 13/03/2019 09:25

I thought Seraphina Ann

HotpotLawyer · 13/03/2019 09:27

A middle name isn’t compulsory or really necessary.

Seraphina is lovely.

I wouldn’t choose a name that ends in an ‘a’ sound, including Summer.

I wouldn’t choose a name beginning in S or a vowel sound as the a at the end of Seraphina will run into it, sound awkward or sound as if the is an r inbetween the names.

Seraphina Jane
Seraphina Hope
Seraphina Joy

chiarazuri · 13/03/2019 09:41

Hotpotlawyer I was thinking of Aria as I really love that name, but I see what you mean with the two a's being so close to each other..

I love seraphina!

Serephina Catherine?
Seraphina Aurora

Out of your list above I prefer Lara

chiarazuri · 13/03/2019 10:21

Saffrona, thank you! Not too keen on aurora, i don't mind catherine, sounds nice!
ColeHawlins and Marmite thank you for the suggestions! Faye sounds okayish, Ann is growing on me, but a bit overused as a middle name i think..

My fictional twins are called Seraphina and Violet. A flower name but with a strong vibe.

chiarazuri · 13/03/2019 10:26

What do you all think of Summer? I have a love/ hate relationship with that name. Sometimes I really like the flow with seraphina, as they both start with the same letter but then at other times it seems too contemporary for a name like seraphina.. Do you think the middle name should be a classic one, like ann, rose, ivy etc... thoughts?

OP posts:
chiarazuri · 13/03/2019 10:27

Pippistrelle, I like Violet! Not with seraphina as a middle name though, I think that would be too much

Sexnotgender · 13/03/2019 10:53

Hate summer, sorry! Do love autumn though.

pippistrelle · 13/03/2019 11:03

Not a particular fan of Summer either (we have enough names to choose from, no need to co-opt a random noun - personal opinion only), and I don't think it works with Seraphina. They feel very different.

chiarazuri · 13/03/2019 11:53

I Agree!!

Seraphina Grace is gorgeous I think! Also:
Seraphina Lily
Seraphina Alice
Seraphina Mae
Seraphina Belle
I think because Seraphina is quite a long name a shorter middle name is best x

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 13/03/2019 12:03

Love Seraphina.

Seraphina Juliet.

RayaJambalaya · 13/03/2019 12:46

Seraphina Skye is gorgeous 😍

chiarazuri · 13/03/2019 14:46

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, ive added more options to the drawing board as I still haven't found a middle name that sounds good with seraphina.. What about:
Lilly
Lila
Aria
Jasmine
Eva
Ava
Sienna
Ella
Isla
Elsa
Rosa
Any thoughts or additional names that may fit well?

OP posts:
GreatDuckCookery6211 · 13/03/2019 15:35

I like Jasmine from your new list but the others are wishy washy.

ColeHawlins · 13/03/2019 15:39

Seraphina is ethereal enough, I don't think it can support an "-a" suffix middle name.

Jessabean · 13/03/2019 17:49

I actually think a longe 2/3 syllable middle name would work better than a short one when you say it out loud with a 2 syllable surname has a better ring to it. As someone else had said I would avoid an 'a' ending middle name as doesn't flow well.

Ideas:
Seraphina Harriet
Seraphina Annabelle
Seraphina Isabelle
Seraphina Eloise
Seraphina Florence
Seraphina Eleanor
Seraphina Adeline
Seraphina Adrienne
Seraphina Rosalind
Or

Seraphina Grace
Seraphina Alice
Seraphina Ivy
As shorter middle name ideas.
