We've picked our boys name - George - but finding it so hard for girls names. I'd like a name that's strong but also pretty.

Which name would you pick for your daughter out of this list (if you had to!)

Which name is the most awful to you, and why?

Rosa
Honor
Maeve
Minerva
Ophelia
Beatrix
Anastasia
Margot
Thea /Theodosia
Rowena
Emie
Frieda/Frida
Nora
Alexandra
Marcella
Marceline

Thanks!

Rosa

Babymamamama · 09/03/2019 19:17

I like Margot. I don't like Honor.

needthisthread · 09/03/2019 19:18

Honor is a mobile phone brand. Did you mean Honour? Or genuinely Honor?

3boysandabump · 09/03/2019 19:18

I like Beatrix. Don't like Minerva.

iloveewanthedreamsheep · 09/03/2019 19:19

I like Rosa
Not keen on Minerva - Professor McGonagall.

NuffSaidSam · 09/03/2019 19:19

Can I have triplets?

Beatrice (don't like Beatrix as much), Margot and Nora.

The worst one much be Minerva. Not keen on Ophelia or Frieda either.

littlecabbage · 09/03/2019 19:19

Marcella and Marceline are my least favourite.

Merename · 09/03/2019 19:20

I don’t like Honor either, so posh. Minerva and Ophelia also a bit weird and formal for me. Like the rest though, especially Frida and Nora.

Baby2namehelp · 09/03/2019 19:21

I love Rosa and Margot

BroomstickOfLove · 09/03/2019 19:23

None of them are bad. I'm not wild about Emie because it sounds a bit like a nickname, and I dislike quite a high proportion of the Alexandras I know. On the other hand, I like several female Alexes, who are probably also Alexandras,

SweetAsSpice · 09/03/2019 19:24

Ophelia is beautiful, but tragic connotations.

Beatrix was on my list, but DD didn't look like one. Strong, feminine.

Anastasia is gorgeous.

Honor is the most awful, in the UK it is spelt Honour. Same as faith, hope, liberty. Each to their own, but to me, don't name humans non-human names.

canberramum · 09/03/2019 19:24

I'd pick Maeve.

Really not a Theodosia fan.

BikeRunSki · 09/03/2019 19:26

Beatrix, but prefer Beatrice

loopylou1984 · 09/03/2019 19:27

Thea (not Theadosia) is my favourite

Marceline is my least favourite, I can only hear Vaseline when I read it.

SherlockSays · 09/03/2019 19:27

Thea is DD's name so that gets my vote. Not keen on Theodosia though - I like Theodora but DH veto'd.

TheFaerieQueene · 09/03/2019 19:27

Margot is lovely.

BooseysMom · 09/03/2019 19:27

I love Rosa. I wanted to change my name to Rose as a child!

I like Thea too.

No to Anastasia..reminds me of that rubbish band in the 90s!

No to Nora ... think Nora Batty from Last of the Summer Wine!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 09/03/2019 19:28

I actually quite like all of them except Minerva- a pretentious mouthful imo

Idugahole · 09/03/2019 19:28

I like Nora, don’t like Theodosia

lanclass1 · 09/03/2019 19:28

I love Alexandra

Big no to Rowena

OpiesOldLady · 09/03/2019 19:29

Love love love Frida!!!

Not keen on Honor.

longestlurkerever · 09/03/2019 19:30

Rosa is a brilliant name imo. Also like Ophelia but wouldn't use it. I don't like Nora, Marcella or Marceline

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/03/2019 19:32

Love Honor.

kimlo · 09/03/2019 19:32

I love Honor.

Janleverton · 09/03/2019 19:35

As a name, Honor is spelt correctly (UK). Honor Blackman, remember lots of old fashioned schools stories would have an Honor in. Dd has a friend called Honor.

I really like Honor.

Dislike Minerva, Marcella and marcelline. And Ophelia.
