Albert, Florence and ...??

Hello! I’m hoping for some help with baby name #3, gender unknown, please.

We have Albert George Alexander (Bert/Bertie) and Florence Betsy Alexandra (Florrie), and are thinking:

Margot (Maggie); Ruby; or Nancy for girl

Henry; Wilfred (Fred); or Louis for boy.

It’s boys in particular we are struggling with as none of those float my boat as much as Albert did so I’m finding it impossible to decide.

Thoughts / opinions / alternative suggestions really welcome!

Thanks so much

X

I’d choose Henry and Margot out of your list

I think Eleanor sounds lovely but that wasn’t on your list

Susannach · 09/03/2019 09:54

I’m not mad keen on your girls’ names but Margot is def my favourite. Maybe Beatrice, Clara, Claudia, Mabel or Rosamund?

I love your boys’ names! Henry is probably my fave. How about Rufus, Rupert, Theodore, Lucian, Sidney, Stanley, Magnus or Wilbur?

WizzyBee · 09/03/2019 10:01

Be careful of Louis....

My son is Louis which I decided should be pronounced 'Loo-is'. If people don't know and they read his name they call him 'Loo-ee', but birthday and Xmas cards are invariably addressed to 'Lewis'. This all bugs him no end.

Wizzybee really helpful advice thank you - totally get how annoying that would be

My first thought randomly was “Arthur” nicknamed “Artie” but perhaps that’s too close with Bert/Bertie

JenSFP · 09/03/2019 10:09

Thanks SusannachSmile we have a Theodore as a nephew otherwise I’d def consider that. I like Sidney and Stanley but unsure if I’m brave enough / would prefer to stick with slightly more classic.

Thanks for the girl suggestions too. It’s so good to get opinions!

Adelaide for a girl

JenSFP · 09/03/2019 10:10

Yes I love Arthur but think we need to move away from “A” and probably too similar too!

Genevieve?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 09/03/2019 10:11

I'd say Ruby and Wilfred to fit in best with the 'feel' of your other DC's names.

mustdrinkwaternotwine · 09/03/2019 10:11

Ernest, Edgar or Hector?

JenSFP · 09/03/2019 10:20

Thank you - not sure I could risk Bert & Ernie... (Sesame Street)! A good friend has Edgar and I’m not keen on Hector but good suggestions Smile

Wilfred and Ruby sound good with your other names.
Definitely not Margot. It's 80s middle-aged want to be posh woman with her hostess trolley and vol-au-vents. Horrible.

Hugo

I also like Henry as it’s a family name of mine but we nickname “Hank” - sadly I’ll never use it due to drama with my brother and an exGF

Arpafeelie · 09/03/2019 14:40

Love Margot (Maggie). As your other two have long names with short forms, I'd stick with that and not use Ruby or Nancy. How about Harriet (Hattie or Hetty)?

TheMuminator2 · 09/03/2019 15:25

The Machine? sorry

123Flopsy · 09/03/2019 16:02

Maggie is nice but I much prefer Margaret or Margherita.

How about Vincent or Quentin?

ncqtime · 09/03/2019 16:04

Nancy was my first thought

PlasticPatty · 09/03/2019 16:05

Zebedee. Got to be.
Ermintrude.
Rusty. That could be male or female.

SweetButaPsycho · 09/03/2019 16:16

Henry and Ruby are my favourites from your list

WitchesGlove · 09/03/2019 16:23

Valentina, Alexandra, Magdalena for a girl

Victor, Ernest, Theodore, Gabriel for a boy
