I like it. I know a young Tess and it feels like her proper name rather than a nickname. (She’s just Tess too on her BC)

As long as your surname isn’t tickle, then it’s a perfectly nice name

Where I live there is a saying for someone on the larger side- 'Ten Tonne Tess'. That's all I can think of. (It's awful I know)

Nell and Fern are also nice. I prefer Nell but would be concerned about Smelly Nelly type teasing.
