Name like Romy?

Hi all,

Help needed! We absolutely love the name Romy and were all set to use it for our baby girl who is due in March. Unfortunately, my SIL has just used this name for her daughter.

Anyhoo, I think what I love about the name is the “ee” sound, so I’m not looking for alternatives like Romily, Ramona etc, but more another quite short name that sounds quite soft on the ear. We like happy sounding names Smile

I like Josie (but we have another in the family) as well as Stevie, Darcy and Sophie all of which DH has vetoed! He does love Sophie (is too chicken to use Stevie although I agree it’s a bit out there) and generally “ee” sounding names but we know 5 baby Sophie’s so that is out.

Please can you wise people help?

I should say, being one of 6 girls in my year with my name(!), we would prefer something that isn’t too popular, although I know you can never tell how it’ll work in reality with these things. Romy was kind of perfect, in not being totally out there but also not too popular (yet!) so that is the kind of direction we are wanting. Thanks again!!

Or Esme (although I think this can be pronounced Esmee or Esmay, so might cause some confusion).

Just curious did you discuss the name Romy with your SIL? It’s fairly unusual so it’s strange you both chose that name!

Bustermoon · 21/02/2019 09:19

Demi is great. Not sure if DH will like it but I’ll raise it! Also love Esme (especially the meaning) but again we already have a little niece. They have good names in our family!

Betsy is a pretty name.

We discussed the name. She said she didn’t like it at the time...I am trying to stay chill and find another name I love. This is a much wanted and longed for baby who has taken a very long time coming, so that’s the most important thing isn’t it? I am upset though

Naughty of her, but I don’t like at as much as you so I don’t think it’s a great loss.
