Appreciate this style isn’t to everyone’s taste & ‘you won’t know what she’ll be like’ has been thrown around but then you don’t know if she’ll be sickly sweet when you call a little girl daisy? You may recognise me from the Connie or Frankie thread! Grin I still feel like I’m looking for that perfect cool name for our second little girl! Please give me all your amazing suggestions, you’ve all been so helpful so far!

Cool names don’t have to be boy’s names.

drspouse · 20/02/2019 12:14

Do you actively want a name that could be for a boy or a girl?
Or do you just not want a name that refers to flowers, gems, or feminine characteristics?
If the latter then many of the traditional girls' names will fit the bill.
E.g. Elizabeth, Mary, Katherine, Anne etc.

(They don't have to be Tudor names!)

I'm sure you think you're bucking gender stereotyping but your mindset clearly buys straight into it.

I think short names for your brief better than longer names which can end up being frilly. eg Kate, Rae, Amy, Aoife, Lisa, I would avoid names more common for men through Alex is good and genuinely unisex. Beatrix is longer but feisty imo

There’s a girl in DD2s playgroup called Elliot, I thought that was a cool name and I’ve never known a girl with that name before.

Pippathenippa · 20/02/2019 12:27

Thanks for the suggestions so far! I like Cameron & Charlie, do like Sydney as well but it’s quite common within people I know including family
Members unfortunately. Coco is cool @BlueMerchant not sure I’m brave enough!
