Girls name help

I am currently pregnant with another girl and I am struggling to come up with a name I love as much as our first daughter - Elsie Isabelle named after my great grandmother. I keep floating names past my husband however he is yet to want to sit down and talk about names properly where as I'm freaking out trying to find the right one!

List so far however continually changes:
Polly
Heidi
Ingrid
Hallie
Leni/Lenny (potentionally Eleanor nn Leni however might be too close to Elsie?)
Riley
Sylvie

What do you think of my current favourites? Would love to hear any other suggestions. Thanks

Definitely Eleanora or Eleanor with nn.
Sorry not a fan of the others.

But personally I think polly matches Elsie. But it’s not of my taste.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/02/2019 03:13

Heidi is the prettiest and fits beautifully with Elsie.
Sorry but id lose Riley.

Ricekrispie22 · 14/02/2019 05:02

I like Heidi and Sylvie best. Not a fan of Lenny at all. I wouldn’t go for Eleanor as you already have an Elsie.

Iris
Ada
Betsy
Edith
Margo
Hazel

I really don't like sylvie. It's very old lady. The rest are ok.

gillybombilly · 14/02/2019 05:24

Eleanor (or Elenore) is lovely - Leonora is another pretty option.
Margo and Hazel are becoming quite popular now - I like them both very much.

FlagFish · 14/02/2019 05:29

Prolly and Heidi are my favourites from your list.

Polly - too twee. Don't like
Heidi - hate this one
Ingrid - actually quite like
Hallie - it's okay
Leni/Lenny - really like, I'd shorten from Lennon
Riley - overused and a bit chavvy (sorry!)
Sylvie - really like

Sophronia · 14/02/2019 09:30

I like Sylvie, Ingrid and Eleanor nn Leni

bringbackfonzi · 14/02/2019 09:36

Don't like Polly, Riley or Hallie at all. To my ears Ingrid, Eleanor and Sylvie are a very different kind of name from those three and are all lovely. Heidi - meh.

SilverBirchTree · 14/02/2019 11:40

I like all your names. I think I like Polly and Heidi the best

BlueMerchant · 14/02/2019 11:51

Heidi is beautiful and sounds lovely with Elsie. Other names I think sound good with Elsie and personally love are Marnie and Alice.

Letthemysterybe · 14/02/2019 13:41

I like Heidi the best.

What about:

Lydia
Ada
Sadie
Lena
Cara

Please don't go with ingrid. It's so harsh sounding.

The others are lovely. Polly and Hallie are the nicest s

DramaAlpaca · 14/02/2019 23:01

I think Polly or Sylvie are the nicest with Elsie, they have a similar vintage vibe.

Thanks everyone, great to hear some feed back, even the bad. Polly is my favourite followed by Heidi. The only problem is I absolutely loved Elsie's name early on however don't feel the same about Polly or Heidi, I don't know if I'm over thinking it.

From some of the suggestions, I really liked Maggie when pregnant with Elsie but my husband didn't like it at all. I have tried again this time but still a no go. Margo and Betsy are off the list for a similar reason. I love Florence however we have several friends and co-workers who have used this. My dad is known as Poppy by all his grand kids so can't use it either. Molly was on our list first time around but we much prefer Polly. Our surname ends in a strong er sound so a/er ending names don't really flow.

I am thinking of using Therese as a middle name after my husband's Nan.

Anymore suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Sylvie goes best with Elsie. Some of the others sound too different in style if you want them to go together.

Inaboatwithoutapaddle247 · 15/02/2019 12:02

I love Polly and Heidi from your list.
I wanted Pollyanna for my daughter but didn't dare in the end.

I also really like Connie.
Elsie and Connie would sound lovely together.

Letthemysterybe · 15/02/2019 12:54

If you like Therese what about going for Tessa?

Disfordarkchocolate · 15/02/2019 12:56

I love Sylvie, one of my favourite names.

Parthenope · 15/02/2019 13:01

Heidi to me is very apple-cheeked and Alpine and frolicking about in a dirndl -- it only really began to be used in the English-speaking world after a film (possible with Shirley Temple?) of the novel, and I see it as a cute-film-cliché kind of name unless you have German/Swiss/Austrian ancestry.

I have a high-powered thirtysomething friend called Heidi who loathes her name and thinks it's twee.
