Which do you prefer for a girl? Frankie is very popular near me but only with boys hardly any girls. The middle name will be Jean after DH’s nan who recently passed away. TIA Smile

Frankie, as a nn for Frances or Francesca.

Pippathenippa · 09/02/2019 22:02

Thank you @Tavannach. It would be Frankie as the full name, we aren’t keen on frances or Francesca.

I love them both so hard to choose sorry!

boomboom1234 · 09/02/2019 22:22

Both really lovely but I've never met a Connie and I think it's lovely and so cute

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/02/2019 22:23

Connie

thefirst48 · 09/02/2019 22:23

Frankie.

helpamamaout · 09/02/2019 22:25

Please NOT Frankie for a girl!

ThursdayLastWeek · 09/02/2019 22:25

Connie by a million miles.

(It was on my list for what turned out to be boy number two)

blueskiesovertheforest · 09/02/2019 22:30

Frankie's awful as a full name for a girl though it's cool as a nickname which Frances could use but choose to drop if she hated it.

If you really don't want to give your child a conventional name and are determined to put a pet form on the birth certificate Connie is slightly better (though obviously it's short for various names, most obviously Constance).

thismeansnothing · 09/02/2019 22:32

Frankie.

We love it too and is on the list for DD. Again as is not shortened for anything

HalfBloodPrincess · 09/02/2019 22:34

I’ve got Connie in my girls list, but I actually prefer Frankie! (My nephews name 😢)

TortoiseLettuce · 09/02/2019 22:34

Frankie is a nickname not a proper name. At least Connie is an actual name.

BartonHollow · 09/02/2019 22:35

Regardless of whether you like them that is what Frankie is the diminutive of and she will be asked "is that short for Frances or Francesca?" for the rest of her life and have to reply, "no my parents didn't like the proper names and just gave me a nickname as a first name"

DramaAlpaca · 09/02/2019 22:37

Connie, although I prefer it short for Constance.

I don't like Frankie for either boys or girls.

AngryCasper · 09/02/2019 22:38

I don’t understand why people insist on having a longer ‘proper’ name which is never actually used. Don’t listen to the criticism; if you want Frankie as the full name, do it.

That said, I do prefer Connie. Less common and just lovely.

JennyHolzersGhost · 09/02/2019 22:38

Use the full names.

DioneTheDiabolist · 09/02/2019 22:39

Connie. I love it.
Frankie reminds me of that awful 80s song.

goldengummybear · 09/02/2019 22:41

My dd hates her unisex name which I gave her because all of the cool girls had unisex names when I was growing up.

Frankie Jean sounds better than Connie Jean imo

thismeansnothing · 09/02/2019 22:46

But if you don't like the full length version of a name and wouldn't use it why lumber a child with it???? Stick to your guns OP

I go by the shortened version of my name. I rarely get asked what it's short for 🙄 and on the odd occasion people do ask me they tend to ask if it's for something else (shortened version can be used for a couple of girls names)

deadsexy · 09/02/2019 22:49
