We are registering our DS this weekend but cannot agree on a name. Our shortlist includes Jacob, Henry (Harry) and Richard and we are looking for something traditional that goes with the name Joseph. We’d like to avoid overly popular names. Any suggestions please?

Sorry, is Joseph his first name or the name of his brother?

elQuintoConyo · 06/02/2019 11:19

Jesus? Pronounced hey-zeus.

ChubsyMcChubFace · 06/02/2019 11:25

I like Richard best with Joseph btw. Harry is done to death where I live. It has been well used for decades now and the Harrys just keep on coming! It’s a nice name, but the commonness would put me off personally.

Henry is lovely and pretty well used but nowhere near as much as Harry.

Richard is unusual among young boys ime. We had one at a toddler class, who must be 4 by now, but he is the only one I’ve met.

Jacob is a bit too like Joseph imo. Both lovely names though.

I like Jacob best here. Nicholas?

Sorry, my eldest DS is called Joseph and I’m looking for a first name for his little brother.

Not Jacob with brother Joseph. I really like Henry/Harry and Richard. If popularity worries you I think Richard is best of your list.

I love Henry but it is rather popular. So is Joseph though, and they’re gorgeous together!

Joseph and Jacob are nice names. They will become Joe and Jake though. Not as nice.

Joseph and Harry (Joe and Harry) also nice sounding.

Richard is a bit 40/50 year old man at the moment but might come back in fashion.

LionsHeart · 06/02/2019 16:39

Joseph and Benjamin (Ben).
Sons of Rachel, as per Genesis - Joseph and Benjamin.

starkid · 06/02/2019 16:40

I like Jacob, but not 2 brothers having the same initials, too confusing for paperwork etc.
Henry is nice, not sure I would automatically change it to Harry though. Harry on its own merit is fine :)
