We already have one DS who is 4, expecting another DS in the summer.

OUr surname ends in ‘an’ and DS name ends in ‘er’. His name is unusual in that its not common (though a few people have copied us lol) but easy to spell and say.

We have 2 names on the list and i would love to hear which you prefer;

Grayson (we would probably shorten to Gray)
Archer

Go!

Archer is lovely and although I wouldn’t have chosen Grayson anyway wouldn’t it sound a bit odd with the same sounding ending as his surname ?

whiteonesugar · 05/02/2019 09:16

That’s one thing I am not sure about. - hence probably shortening to Gray :)

I much prefer Archer.

tammytoby · 05/02/2019 09:30

Grayson

Don't like Archer at all

whiteonesugar · 05/02/2019 09:43

Ok, mixed then.

FWIW DS’s name is one that people generally think of as a surname, so we clearly like those sort of names. He wont ever be a Jack or a Christopher.

DH and I cant agree on which one we like the best, we like both, but I like one more and he likes the other more. It’s tricky! Was the same when trying to name DS1!

Definitely Archer. How about just Gray as the full name?

MamaDane · 05/02/2019 09:56

Archer

whiteonesugar · 05/02/2019 09:56

I wanted to give him the opportunity to shorten / lengthen his name if he wants to as a teen / adult, so would give him a longer name that we / he can shorten if he wants to. And vice versa. Gray leaves him with no options lol

I much prefer Archer.

MikeUniformMike · 05/02/2019 12:03

Both Grayson and Archer are awful. Both are surnames.
Archie is a popular name for cockapoos and Gray is a drab colour.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 05/02/2019 12:12

Have to agree with Mike here. Not keen on either sorry.

TheLovelyOtherDinosaur · 05/02/2019 12:14

We can’t all like the same. Don’t come on and insult the poor OP. She might detest your name choices also but might not be so rude. All she is asking is which you think would go best with surname.
I think Archer. If the ending is tried & tested with your first, I’d go with that.

Cbeebiesrehab · 05/02/2019 12:29

It depends on your DS name and Surname for me. For example if your son is called Parker I think Parker and Archer are too much together. And if your surname is something Like Johnsten then Grayson Johnsten doesn’t flow particularly well. Without considering those factors I prefer Archer.

SoupDragon · 05/02/2019 12:31

Out of just those two, Archer is way better. Gray is a drab colour.

Littlebird88 · 05/02/2019 12:32

ohhh if I had to I'd pick Archer but not keen on either

greendale17 · 05/02/2019 12:32

Grayson.

daisypond · 05/02/2019 12:48

Archer

MikeUniformMike · 05/02/2019 12:49

You're right, we don't all like the same, but OP is posting on a forum about names asking which ones we prefer.
Grayson is the better of the two. FWIW it makes me think of Grayson Perry and Larry Grayson.
You might not want to use Favour as a middle name.

PeonyTruffle · 05/02/2019 12:57

I have an Archie (a human son not a cockapoo PP 😐) and despite that am not a fan of Archer. I do like Grayson though.

starkid · 05/02/2019 13:41

I prefer Grayson. How about Asher? Ash is a nice nickname :)

Fuei · 05/02/2019 13:53

I love Grayson and Gray, DH not keen so I didn't manage to sell it.

MikeUniformMike · 05/02/2019 14:04

Asher is much nicer.

tammytoby · 05/02/2019 14:24

Not keen on either but would choose Grayson if I had to.

Really dislike Archie as a nickname for Archer (or Archibald)! Sounds so cutesy and dated to my ears.

Sophronia · 05/02/2019 14:35

Not keen on either

Peachbubble · 05/02/2019 14:49

Archer, not keen at all on Grayson
