We already have one DS who is 4, expecting another DS in the summer.

OUr surname ends in ‘an’ and DS name ends in ‘er’. His name is unusual in that its not common (though a few people have copied us lol) but easy to spell and say.

We have 2 names on the list and i would love to hear which you prefer;

Grayson (we would probably shorten to Gray)
Archer

Go!

Don't like either, sorry.

stellarfox · 05/02/2019 15:36

Much prefer Grayson. Not keen on the occupational name trend

Nonameyet1 · 05/02/2019 18:36

I like Grayson and Archer. Unique enough to be nice and not too unique to be odd.

Shadow1234 · 05/02/2019 20:33

I prefer Grayson, and as someone else upthread said, if your other DS is called Parker or similar, then Archer would not go so well.
If your surname was Newman for example, then Grayson Newman sounds perfectly fine.

DramaAlpaca · 05/02/2019 20:34

I dislike both, sorry.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/02/2019 20:35

Archer.

Definitely, definitely not Grayson.

Bumblebeesmum · 05/02/2019 20:47

Surprised people hate Archer given the stuff that is liked on here which includes the downright bizarre. Archer is a lovely name. I declare this to be so, so it must be so.

Lara53 · 05/02/2019 21:25

I really like both names

tammytoby · 05/02/2019 22:29

An archer is a person who shoots with a bow and arrow!

I don't think it's s nice first name.

ImportantWater · 05/02/2019 22:34

Archer
Grayson makes me think Batman and Robin.

whiteonesugar · 06/02/2019 14:23

This is hilarious. I didn't ask if you like them, i asked for a preference. If you don't like either that's fine, but why post just to say that - what a waste of energy. LOL

FWIW my DS does have a name that is more commonly seen as a surname so both work in that sense. His name is also a trade (or at least, is a name for someone who does a certain trade) so looks like we are onto a bit of a trend.

Thanks everyone else for constructive answers Grin We are no further in the decision making but its interesting to get a general consensus!

I think these surname style names will be very dated in the next few years.

Archer is the best because it could be shortened to Archie

Grayson is grim. Larry Grayson? Grayson Perry? And Grey makes me think oh John Major.

MikeUniformMike · 06/02/2019 14:37

palomapear - my thoughts exactly.
My kids are called Butcher and Carpenter.

thatsmyspace · 06/02/2019 14:43

Both are lovely names, although I'd go with Grayson x

SoupDragon · 06/02/2019 16:45

Larry Grayson? Grayson Perry?

Those are who spring immediately to my mind too, along with the drabness.
