Is Edmund just too ridiculous?

Have always loved this name, however, since mentioning it to friends and family I’ve received some negative feedback.

We do love the name Edward too, just prefer the sound of Edmund.

What are your opinions?

Middle name will be Alexander
Thank you x

I love it. I do prefer Edward though.

Bloo22 · 03/02/2019 15:38

I think it’s a lovely name, don’t see how it’s ridiculous at all

TatianaLarina · 03/02/2019 15:40

Much prefer Edward. Edmunds are geeky-creepy.

AutumnCrow · 03/02/2019 15:40

It's a great name. These people who say otherwise are weird.

DramaAlpaca · 03/02/2019 15:40

It's a nice name.

Sallygoroundthemoon · 03/02/2019 15:40

It's a nice name, old fashioned but if you like it go for it. It's a nice alternative to Edward.

PanannyPanoo · 03/02/2019 15:41

I taught an Edmund a few years ago. He was a lovely little boy. I think its a great name. Classic, but not common, he can be Ed, or Eddie if he doesn't always want to be an Edmund.
I advise you only discuss names with your other half! Once baby is born only the rudest of people will offer their opinion if they don't like it.

VWpurse · 03/02/2019 15:41

Nice! Never met one, he’ll probably love it!

stellarfox · 03/02/2019 15:43

I think it’s nice but does sound a little middle class to me. It will probably become more common and feel less like that the more it is used though and I wouldn’t let that put you off, it’s a perfectly good name

howdoyoukeepawaveuponthesand · 03/02/2019 15:43

I've always loved Edmund, after the King Lear character. But then I'm a sucker for a bad boy Grin

Timeforatincture · 03/02/2019 15:44

Oi! DS1 (27) is Edmund. It's a splendid name. A classic without being overused.

daisypond · 03/02/2019 15:58

I like it.

Vitalogy · 03/02/2019 16:01

Edmund reminds me of Edmund Blackadder. Edward or Eddie is fine though.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 03/02/2019 16:02

I love it! It's classic but unusual and everyone knows how to spell it!

DianaBlythe · 03/02/2019 16:07

Lovely. Makes me think of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. He can be Ed or Eddie which are inconspicuous if he wants to. Also love Ned as a shortening but not if you’re in Scotland.

Sexnotgender · 03/02/2019 16:08

As long as your surname isn’t blackadder it’s perfectly fine.

MollyHuaCha · 03/02/2019 17:52

I prefer Edward.

Missillusioned · 03/02/2019 17:55

Or there's Edgar or Edric if you want something more unusual than Edward?

Smileymoon · 03/02/2019 17:57

I like it. Mansfield Park fan.

EngagedAgain · 03/02/2019 18:06

I like it and other names like that. If you feel it's right for him don't see why not. It's not 'beige' is it like some old names.

AdaColeman · 03/02/2019 18:08

I love it, I prefer it to Edward.

Variousartists · 03/02/2019 18:12

I know a guy in his 30s called Edmund and it is very old-fashioned for his age group.

HelenaJustina · 03/02/2019 18:13

Really like it. Biased by a lovely family member with the name.

SinglePringle · 03/02/2019 18:13

Far more interesting and characterful than the dull Edward.

Nonameyet1 · 03/02/2019 18:14

I like it. Like Edward too.
