What are your thoughts on the name Charlotte, no shortened to Charley or Lottie, just Charlotte

Beautiful name.

Emelene · 01/02/2019 17:37

Gorgeous. I think others will shorten it but it is a stunning name x

Sallygoroundthemoon · 01/02/2019 17:38

Lovely name.

BarbaraMiceland · 01/02/2019 17:45

She may well choose to use a shortening in the future, so if you don’t like the nicknames then probably don’t choose it.

mytime2 · 01/02/2019 17:54

Lovely and timeless name, albeit a bit boring

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 01/02/2019 17:58

💕 Charlotte.

Jaz32 · 01/02/2019 17:59

I have a Charlotte and no one shortens it, even though it’s a long name it still only has 2 syllables so doesn’t need to be shortened.

I hate Char so I really hope she doesn’t decide to go by that when older 😂 I very rarely call her Charley Barley but nobody else does. We’ve met a couple of other little Charlottes who go by Lottie.

Ragwort · 01/02/2019 17:59

Why ‘boring’ Confused. ? I would much rather a timeless, classical name like Charlotte than some of the unconventional and frankly ‘made up’ names that can seem rather common.

Nonameyet1 · 01/02/2019 18:55

I like it but agree others may shorten it as she gets older.

Stinkytoe · 01/02/2019 18:57

I have a Charlotte, she’s only little bit only goes by Charlotte, no shortenings. I, obviously, think it’s a beautiful name. It is quite commonplace around here though.

Farmerswifey12 · 01/02/2019 19:00

I have a Charlotte here too! I think it's a lovely traditional name but not used so often that there are loads.

Nobody shortens it, she is 10 and showing no signs of wanting it shortened to anything yet.

SallyWD · 01/02/2019 19:02

Beautiful

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 01/02/2019 19:02

My Charlotte is almost 29 and nobody has ever shortened it

MikeUniformMike · 01/02/2019 19:04

I know several Charlottes but only one is Charlie, another is Lottie, and one is Charl (sharl). All the others are always Charlotte.

RavenWings · 01/02/2019 19:05

Pretty but generic. It's grand like, totally inoffensive, it just doesn't have a lot of pizzazz imo.

MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 01/02/2019 19:05

❤️

daisypond · 01/02/2019 19:24

It's OK, but not my cup of tea - I find it a bit downmarket and bland. I know it's a "classic" but I really dislike the Ch at the beginning - like Chardonnay or some other such name. Caroline has the same root and is much nicer, with more oomph, I think.

finallychangedmyusername · 01/02/2019 19:27

One of my absolute favourite girl names. It's classic, classy, Austen used it, has great shortening if you want, there's nothing not to like (IMHO).

lljkk · 01/02/2019 19:29

I know 2 lovely ones (European so different pronunciation). But it has never appealed 2 me. And was super-duper popular in recent yrs so I fancy hearing something different. Use it if you love it, of course. It is no way a bad name to use.

BrevilleTron · 01/02/2019 19:31

I have one! She's 18 and I still love the name

littlecabbage · 01/02/2019 19:33

Ma I ask, do you usually pronounce it Shar -lot or Shar-lut? Heard both.

littlecabbage · 01/02/2019 19:33

*May I ask

Didyeeaye · 01/02/2019 20:00

Lovely. It will always have the princess connotations but that's not a bad thing!

tammytoby · 01/02/2019 20:05

I know a German Charlotte, pronounced Shar-Lott-eh

Montsti · 01/02/2019 20:08

One of my favourite girls names. Beautiful & classic. I know a few of varying ages and none have nicknames...
