Argh, I'm stuck and looking for some inspiration please.

I have a DS called Harris, 2 years after we named him there is a Harris every where I turn. Just found out we are having a DS2. I had my heart set on Struan but they are popping up all over the place.

We are toying over Angus and Innes but not really loving either as much.

Any thoughts? Smile

Neville?

Dragonfruits · 30/01/2019 23:21

I like Kelvin. Depends where you are though, suppose you might not fancy it as much if you’re in Glasgow.

Also a few PPs said Iain which is fine on its own but Iain Brodie sounds too like Ian Brady!

wigglybeezer · 30/01/2019 23:23

I think Douglas goes with Brodie and James never goes out of fashion.

cinderfeckinrella · 30/01/2019 23:27

I don't think Struan is that common. Maybe I'm wrong but I work in schools in Scotland and have only met 1. It's a lovely name. If it's Murdo you like go for it. We now have 3 Lucas in our street. Not worried as they're all different ages!

runninginheelsisnotfun · 30/01/2019 23:44

I know of 3 baby Struans and it's about the same number born as there were Zac, Conor and Josh. What bothers me more is it shot into the top 100 and will probably follow the same pattern as Harris, Alexander or Leo - right up to the top 10 in no time.

I worry t will be like Chris or Lynsey when I was growing up where you can pretty much tell someone's the age because the name was so popular at a given time.

I'm probably over thinking it, thanks hormones!! 🙈

Duncan Brodie

I bet Duncan is not a name used much in primary school now days?

Nanalisa60 · 31/01/2019 07:53

Also instead of Harris how about Harrison

FurzeandHarebells · 31/01/2019 08:54

I know a couple of primary aged Duncan’s Nana

It’s a great name though.

3out · 31/01/2019 08:56

OP’s DS is called Harris. Could call DS2 Ford 😂

Pigpogtastic · 31/01/2019 09:20

Douglas Brodie sounds great.

The people suggesting Ian, seriously with the surname Brodie? Nope nope nope.

runninginheelsisnotfun · 31/01/2019 09:59

Please god no! 😂

ReginaPhalange89 · 04/02/2019 09:26

Lorne? As in sausage?

I know someone called Lorne, I had the exact same thought when I heard his name for the first time haha !

citychick · 04/02/2019 10:20

Lorne sausage... hahaha oh dear.

The firth of Lorne can be found on the West coast of Scotland.

I also knew a Lorne. He was extremely lovely and charming...

ChubsyMcChubFace · 04/02/2019 11:51

Such a shame that Fergus and Hamish are off the table! They are two of my all time favourite names and I am not even Scottish!

Struan is also lovely and I’m partial to Duncan. I used to live in Edinburgh and every other baby boy born there about ten years ago seemed to be naked Finlay. Girls were all Isla, but that’s neither here nor there!

SoaringSwallow · 04/02/2019 12:26

James (although maybe too similar sounding to Janes...?)
Euan (with the U)
Dougal
Douglas
Alastair (d/t)

Sideshot: Alexander??

SoaringSwallow · 04/02/2019 12:26

*Jane!

SoaringSwallow · 04/02/2019 12:27

*Jean - sorry brain fog from flu - and Jean sounds nothing like James so ignore that diversion!
