Thoughts on the name Freya?

Hi!
We've been considering the girl name Freya for a while. Her middle name will be grace, last name has one syllable, and is quite common. What do you think about the name Freya? What kind of girl does it remind you of? What would you rate it out of 10 and why?
Thanks😉

I like it, a bit well used now but ok

Ellieboolou27 · 27/01/2019 03:36

Makes me think of a dreamer, wears florals, quiet, a bit washed out, I think it’s a little wet sounding tbh.

llangennith · 27/01/2019 03:36

I'm not keen on it but it seems to be quite popular. 3 in our primary school.

SweetbutAPsycho · 27/01/2019 12:00

It's nice but has soared in popularity the past couple of years. It makes me think of the character in the originals who is a witch. Strong, beautiful and loyal are attributes I would associate because of that character.

ZebraKid71 · 27/01/2019 13:03

It's lovely but is so popular in my area to the point that I'd never use it.

PrincessPeachy1 · 27/01/2019 13:08

I think it’s very pretty Smile

DramaAlpaca · 27/01/2019 13:11

Nice enough, I think it's a bit dated as I only know Freyas in their 20s.

It really doesn't matter what we think, use it if you love it.

MikeUniformMike · 27/01/2019 13:50

Use it if you love it. I liked it when I first heard of one or two but now it is very popular. Frey is too similar to Fray for my liking.
How about Fritha or Fay?

keepingbees · 27/01/2019 13:54

I like it. It's not massively popular in my area I only know of a couple, they were both quite confident and sensible girls. I heard it more a few years ago it seems to have passed its popularity here.

Hundredacrewoods · 30/01/2019 10:08

Honestly it makes me think of fraying fabric which isn't a nice or strong image.

WrapAndRoll · 30/01/2019 11:45

Frayed fabric and Fray Bentos meat pies.

mummytwoh · 30/01/2019 20:47

It's nice, I know quite a few - including with the middle name Grace, but they go well togetherness

WhatNow40 · 30/01/2019 21:10

Isn't it a bra manufacturer? I always think bras when I hear it.

Ngaio2 · 30/01/2019 21:27

I know a wonderful woman in her 20s called this. Very strong minded, artistic and charismatic. Means Princess and is a lovely name. I think it’s vast popularity has passed and it’s ok to use it now. Goes well with the middle name Grace.

MadisonAvenue · 30/01/2019 21:32

I don't like it, it always sounds a bit wet.

3out · 30/01/2019 21:35

All the Freya’s I know have been very striking, and very clever. It’s a lovely name

Sessy19 · 31/01/2019 15:17

I think of fromage frais....sorry. True.

Musmerian · 31/01/2019 15:26

Freya is a Norse Goddess so far from wet and flowery!

beenandgoneandbackagain · 31/01/2019 15:28

Freya - shagged a load of dwarves to get her necklace back. Great role model.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 31/01/2019 18:24

It’s ok, a bit bland but inoffensive. Maybe a bit dated now?

Nonameyet1 · 31/01/2019 18:53

I used to like it but have gone off it.

NicoleNoPants · 31/01/2019 18:56

Like it but know two born in the last year.

Bikinginsummer · 31/01/2019 22:04

Think it's a beautiful combination of names!

Butterfly84 · 31/01/2019 22:18

Awful. Very wet.

LostInTheColonies · 31/01/2019 22:18

Love it and am completely biased Grin.
I stored it away for over a decade after reading a book about Freya Stark ("fearless traveller, indomitable explorer, eloquent woman of letters ... secret propaganda activities in WWII") until the arrival of DD. What with that and Norse goddess origins, the name is fantastic. V uncommon where we are. Also know one Freyja...
