Thoughts on the name Freya?

Hi!
We've been considering the girl name Freya for a while. Her middle name will be grace, last name has one syllable, and is quite common. What do you think about the name Freya? What kind of girl does it remind you of? What would you rate it out of 10 and why?
Thanks😉

Love it. I know a totally awesome girl with that name

AdaColeman · 31/01/2019 22:25

Lovely name, I'd give it ten!

Jorgezaunders · 31/01/2019 22:30

I'm afraid it has always made me think of fried fish.

Jorgezaunders · 31/01/2019 22:31

Probably 2/10.

Nottsangel2015 · 31/01/2019 22:32

My oldest is a freya. She's 13. There are 2 other Freya's in her year at school so was quite popular around the years she as born. Not so much now. I love it though and I think it's very pretty although I'm biased. I think Grace is a lovely middle name too and would work really well with the first name freya :-)

ouchyoubiteybugger · 31/01/2019 22:38

My dog is Freyja spelt the Norse way

MumUnderTheMoon · 02/02/2019 10:53

Makes me think of bras every time I hear it.

VioletCharlotte · 02/02/2019 10:56

It's lovely. I only know one Freya, an 18 year old who is extremely bright, kind and beautiful.

PCohle · 02/02/2019 11:06

I think the "yj" sound is horrible tbh.

daisypond · 02/02/2019 11:27

I didn't use to like it much. It's similar to names like Saskia or Ingrid or Heidi. It has an element of "let's dress up and pretend to be from another culture" (if you're not Scandinavian/Swiss, etc), which I'm not so keen on. But I admit it's grown on me, and I rather like it now.

Guiltypleasurenamenerd · 02/02/2019 20:06

No sorry find it common..in every sense...

GwenCooper81 · 02/02/2019 20:10

Jeez vipers out tonight. I like it. Goes well with Grace :)

CottonSock · 02/02/2019 20:10

Think of bras too

moredoll · 02/02/2019 23:40

It's lovely. Norse, a warrior goddess and the goddess of sensual love.

MiniBreak · 02/02/2019 23:50

Absolutely love it,no negative associations and would have been considering it had DS been a girl. But it's quite common now - two on my post natal course at the same time in my small town made that clear to me

MyDcAreMarvel · 02/02/2019 23:52

Awful it reminds me of cheese.

yesyesyep · 03/02/2019 09:05

I have a Freya. I love it. I think it's pretty and strong. My Freya is very clever and independent, and a little bit feisty!

The negative responses on here have made me laugh. Grin

You can't please everyone, and neither should you. If you like it, go for it.

spiderlight · 04/02/2019 14:31

I love it and would probably have used it if I'd had a girl - it was in my top 3 names.

VenusClapTrap · 04/02/2019 15:03

Love it

tammytoby · 04/02/2019 15:09

I don't like it.

Racecardriver · 04/02/2019 15:11

Makes me think of bras. Shame because it’s itherwise lovely. I actually really loathe this tendency to name ‘female’ products after goddesses. It completely ruins it.

Unbelievable18 · 04/02/2019 15:19

I have a very strong intelligent and generous one. Obviously don't regret the choice of name.

bea179 · 04/02/2019 19:44

My niece is 11 and she is called Freya Grace. I love it, think it's beautiful.

AngelicWIngs · 04/02/2019 19:57

Our DD's best friend is called Freya, it really suits her. I think it's pretty. We considered it for DD but went for something different in the end because Freya didn't quite work as well as the other option with our surname. Otherwise it would have been Freya! Go for it if you love it.

Bumblebeesmum · 04/02/2019 20:48

Makes me think of lingerie but it’s a nice enough name
