I once met a heavy built, teenage boy of a travelling family called Pretty Boy... he was anything but Confused. (No prejudice to travellers or teenagers intended 😬)

Phlox and Santa for the win!

Charles11 · 25/01/2019 22:39

MyBreadIsEggy · 25/01/2019 22:44

I know a Khaleesi Hmm

Not just a tv character name.
The made up royal title of a tv character, in a made up language Hmm
Makes my teeth itch every time I hear it

Mrsfrumble · 25/01/2019 22:44

I met a newborn Roy the other day. I bet he’ll be the only one in his class when he goes to school!

I once went to a baby dance class where there were two baby Yannicks. The teacher kept going on about how funny it was while the two mothers sat glaring at each other, obviously both pissed of that their supposedly “unique” baby name wasn’t.

neurotransmittens · 25/01/2019 22:45

Trelawney. I know it is used but it sounds odd when meeting a newborn for the first time.

The name Fanta I think would open up whole lot of teasing varieties 😶

Rtmhwales · 25/01/2019 22:46

@MissMoodyMoo Clayton not a real name? I'm Canadian and it's super popular and was even more so in the 80s. I know several adult male Clayton's (Clay) and one recently born baby. That's surprised me.

Rtmhwales · 25/01/2019 22:47

Not at babygroup but my friend's sons are named Oakley and Kessler Hmm

tammytoby · 25/01/2019 22:48

Yannick is quite common in Germany

And I think Bear Grylls has a son called Huckleberry

ibuiltahomeforyou · 25/01/2019 22:48

Fanta is a fairly normal African name, it translates as 'Lovely Day'.

heymammy · 25/01/2019 22:49

Keith
Ranulph
Gary

All of which just sound odd in relation to toddlers!

Sassenach85 · 25/01/2019 22:49

Fox ..... yes actually lol

Mesosleepy · 25/01/2019 22:51

Zebedee, Oakley, Meemo, Madicken, Juniper and Gary 🤦‍♀️

RiddleyW · 25/01/2019 22:52

Hmmmm no massively unusual ones. There’s a Loki and a Tallulah and I know a baby Martin.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 25/01/2019 22:52

I was racking my brain trying to think of the names at our baby group and thinking they were all very normal-

Daniel
Anna
Reuben
Harry etc

Then I realised my dd was the one with the weird name Grin

RogersVideo · 25/01/2019 22:53

MissMoody My cousin is Clayton, it's a real name.

RogersVideo · 25/01/2019 22:55

And following on from rtmhwales he is indeed Canadian!

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 25/01/2019 22:57

Baylan.

Also Corban. (Or possibly Corbin/Corbyn, not seen it written down. Child is approx 8 though so not baby group.)

A girl called Dylanne but pronounced as in Bob.

ChesterGreySideboard · 25/01/2019 23:02

A girl called Dylanne but pronounced as in Bob

I thought you meant they pronounced the child’s name ‘bob’.

Pyotrkrolik · 25/01/2019 23:06

There was a Clayton in my class at primary school in the ‘60s (UK) . My grandpas middle name was Wolfe.

bourbonbiccy · 25/01/2019 23:12

We called our DS zebadee.........when he was a bump as it was like he was on a spring, I never for one minute thought it would be a name used nowadays...lovely.

Asmallrole · 25/01/2019 23:14

Bananalanacake · 25/01/2019 23:17
