I’ve always loved the name Miliicent. It’s always been a firm favourite of my and now the time has come when I can use it, all I keep hearing are negative comments from friends and family about ‘harsh sounding’ it is...

Please share your opinions Flowers

I really don't like it, sorry. Very harsh

Topofthehills · 19/01/2019 22:38

Love it, like Millicent Garret Fawcett.

I don't think it's too harsh - and there's always Millie for something a little softer/cuter.

Bacciferous · 19/01/2019 22:39

It's gorgeous

tammytoby · 19/01/2019 22:42

Milli = a thousandth
Cent = a hundred

So a very numerical name!

gentlyscented · 19/01/2019 22:45

It's nice I like it

Picknickers · 19/01/2019 22:52

Really sorry OP but it makes me think militant.

Shadow1234 · 19/01/2019 22:54

I really like it, and Millie as a nn is nice as well.

Jiggins · 19/01/2019 22:56

I don't like it but there's nothing wrong with it, it's just not to my taste. Don't canvass too much opinion, just present the baby and the name simultaneously.

Ikeameatballs · 19/01/2019 22:57

It’s fine, Millie is a nice shorting. If it flows with your surname then go for it.

DramaAlpaca · 19/01/2019 22:59

I once said on a thread that I hated it & it reminded me of millipedes, but since then it's grown on me & I quite like it. It's not harsh sounding at all.

namechangedforanon · 19/01/2019 22:59

I love it, I'd use it . Would be known as Milly day to day though.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 19/01/2019 23:08

I love it. Melisende is similar.

Bella6875 · 19/01/2019 23:09

I like it (and I’m very fussy with names)

spreadingchestnuttree · 19/01/2019 23:10

It's not harsh sounding to me at all, and Millie is a nice nickname.

I wouldn't use it personally though as it sounds very posh to me Blush

DioneTheDiabolist · 19/01/2019 23:11

Don't use Milly if you live in NI. It's an insult there.

Bostin · 19/01/2019 23:11

Would just be Milly

Wonderbag · 19/01/2019 23:13

It makes me think of Millicent Bystander Grin (Flushed Away joke)
...makes me laugh anyway.

chxjw · 19/01/2019 23:14

Not nice OP, sorry.

But if you love it then go for it!

Ribbonsonabox · 19/01/2019 23:16

Love it but she would have to be really cool to pull it off!

purple776 · 19/01/2019 23:17

love it

whatsnewchoochoo · 19/01/2019 23:33

Love it too

Hedwigsradio · 19/01/2019 23:35

@Wonderbag I instantly thought of Flushed Away as well.

MoreHairyThanScary · 19/01/2019 23:39

Dd is Emily one of her nn is Millicent, wish I'd called her that....

kalefire · 19/01/2019 23:48

I have a beautiful friend named Milica Smile

xxcheshiremumxx · 20/01/2019 00:53

I'd think about how much you love the names it will be shortened too more than how much you love the name as I expected most people may call her Millie
