I’ve always loved the name Miliicent. It’s always been a firm favourite of my and now the time has come when I can use it, all I keep hearing are negative comments from friends and family about ‘harsh sounding’ it is...

I love it!

Love it

GoGoJo · 20/01/2019 04:40

I like it. Millicent Margaret Amanda was always a fave. Also Maude and Mildred (can you tell which books I read and a kid)

I think they are all due a revival. Much better than all these soppy flower names. Something with a bit of power!

Toddlerteaplease · 20/01/2019 04:47

I know a Millicent. She hates it and is always Millie.

A good name and not harsh at all. I suspect for many people it's a bit ahead of the trend, though I think it's a name that is starting to be noticed now. That's why you will get some people reacting negatively as they still see it as an outdated old lady name. Like Iris or Mabel was viewed a little while back before they became mainstream.

TheDowagerCuntess · 20/01/2019 06:57

It wouldn't make my short list, but if I heard of a child called it, I'd think it was fantastic.

It's an established, known name, so if you like it, go for it. It doesn't matter of some people dislike it - you're never going to find a name everyone likes.

I also love the fact it doesn't end with an 'a' or 'ie'/'y' as pretty much all girls' names do these days. Very distinctive.

Kokeshi123 · 20/01/2019 08:13

I love it. I know a young Millicent who goes by Mimi, if you want an alternative to Millie as a NN.

starkid · 20/01/2019 09:45

I don't like it (bad fictional book character), but if you've loved it forever do what you want, it's your baby and no one elses (well except DP) Smile

I knew a lovely lady called Millicent so it's thumbs up from me. She was always know as Millie.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 20/01/2019 12:27

I really like it. It's a proper girls name and hasn't really been used much.

ThanksItHasPockets · 20/01/2019 12:30

I like it a lot but be warned that thanks to the popularity of Amelia there are a lot of Millies about.

Disfordarkchocolate · 20/01/2019 12:32

I think it's lovely. Made me think of Millicent Martin.

tammytoby · 20/01/2019 14:57

Millicent is ok but Milli is overused.

Cariadxx · 20/01/2019 18:04

I love it!

17caterpillars1mouse · 21/01/2019 16:56

Beautiful name

RavenWings · 21/01/2019 16:57

Horrible name, very witchy and harsh sounding. Millie isn't much better (in a completely different way!), it's very wishy washy and nothingy.

MrsEricBana · 21/01/2019 17:04

Have to agree that she'll be Millie to everyone else and although very pretty, Millie/Lily/Ellie type nanes have been done to death. Sorry.

winterhappiness · 21/01/2019 19:02

Love it. Reminds me of the really sweet character on One Tree Hill Smile

Nnnnnineteen · 21/01/2019 19:08

My great aunt was Millicent, born in 1896. She hated it and was always called Millie!
