Middle Name for Matilda

So I've finally stopped looking at other first names and stuck with Matilda - my forever love.
I don't like using family names as middle names. I like my children to have their own name and identity rather than honouring a family member. Just personal choice.
Im struggling with a middle name. Initially I like Rose but heard so many Rose/May/Grace middle names its put me off.
Another name I absolutely loved when I had my first along with Matilda was Harper. Not sure I'd ever brave using as a first name.
But how does Matilda Harper sound? Thanks.

I think it needs a one syllable middle name. Jade?

shirleyschmidt · 16/01/2019 22:31

I don't think the 'A' sounds at the end of both names make them a good pairing.

I'd go with something with a different ending I.e Matilda Emily, Matilda Lillian, Matilda Abigail.

CosmicCanary · 16/01/2019 22:32

Matilda Rose.

I only say that because its my DN's name and I picked it Grin

She is Tilly for short and it suits her.

CosmicCanary · 16/01/2019 22:35

Oops sorry just read you dont like Rose Blush

I think Matilda is an old fashioned/classic name so for me Harper doesnt fit.

FranklinTheCat · 16/01/2019 22:35

I feel like it needs something more classic than Harper, but that a middle name could be long - how about....

Matilda Elizabeth?
Matilda Rosalind or Rosamund if you want to keep the Rose theme?
Matilda Josephine?

But Matilda Rose and Matilda Grace both sound lovely!

If DC is a girl we're using Matilda Cerys. Matilda's quite light and soft IYKWIM so I like a sturdy middle name with it

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/01/2019 22:48

I personally wouldn't put Matilda with Harper. Matilda is classic, whereas.
Harper is lovely but faddy and will date very quickly.

My DD2 is a Matilda, and her middle names are Margaret Ann. There’s a Matilda Rose in our music group who’s mum was most disappointed the name she chose was so popular!

Beau Ian traditionally a name for a boy. The female equivalent is Belle.
