Middle Name for Matilda

So I've finally stopped looking at other first names and stuck with Matilda - my forever love.
I don't like using family names as middle names. I like my children to have their own name and identity rather than honouring a family member. Just personal choice.
Im struggling with a middle name. Initially I like Rose but heard so many Rose/May/Grace middle names its put me off.
Another name I absolutely loved when I had my first along with Matilda was Harper. Not sure I'd ever brave using as a first name.
But how does Matilda Harper sound? Thanks.

Ok, since you so politely asked, I don't like the name Harper full stop. It's not unusual, there's a Beckham with that name and lots of followers...

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 17/01/2019 12:22

If you like Harper then go for it! Personally I don't think it goes with Matilda at all 🤷‍♀️ as imo it needs a classic name. Harriet, Beatrice, Florence.

Molakai · 17/01/2019 14:22

Ok then - I really don't think Matilda + Harper flow or sound good together.

wizzler · 18/01/2019 13:02

So to answer your specific question.. I don't like Matilda Harper at all.

MikeUniformMike · 18/01/2019 13:40

it's the 'a Ha' bit in the middle. Harper is a surname so it will look like she has your maiden name as a middle name, and people will hyphenate it to go with your surname.
OP, your baby but you asked our opinion.

daisypond · 18/01/2019 14:14

I don't think it works. If both names are going to be in a different style, I think a middle name should either be something very classic (if you've got a more unusual first name) or something a bit more unusual (if you've got a traditional first name). Harper doesn't fit either of those - it's a very celeb name that will date.

MadeInCornwallx3 · 18/01/2019 14:51

I have a Matilda Charlotte and love it.

MadeInCornwallx3 · 18/01/2019 14:55

Sorry just seen you don't want suggestions Hmm

I think Harper is a bit faddy to go with Matilda, but if you love it go for it.

I also think you could be a little politer.

Astronica · 19/01/2019 10:26

I don't like Harper with Matilda. Matilda is lovely though.

I really don't like virtue names as they bestow a quality to that person they may not be. Had two pop into my head today......

Matilda Violet or
Matilda Seren

Do you like either of these?

Matilda Alice

OnlyToWin · 19/01/2019 18:55

Sorry just read full thread!!
Matilda Seren sounds better than Matilda Violet I think.

OnlyToWin · 19/01/2019 18:55

Two syllables after a three syllable first name sounds better I think.

pilates · 19/01/2019 18:56

I like Matilda Violet

Ikeameatballs · 19/01/2019 19:45

Love Matilda Violet

unicornfarts · 19/01/2019 19:49

Matilda Faye?

PepsiLola · 19/01/2019 20:21

I love the name Seren as it's the welsh name word for star.

I suppose you'd have to know if it goes with the tv surname

Marmite27 · 19/01/2019 20:27

Prefer Matilda Violet

Ikeameatballs · 19/01/2019 20:38

What about Matilda Zoe?

romathehippo · 19/01/2019 20:58

I have a Matilda Rose and absolutely love it. I’m sure there’s a few out there but I’m yet to meet one. I really like Matilda Joy having read it on here.
