Prettier is a strange word choice. Are you asking which we personally prefer? I would say Evangeline. Reason - I loved Nanny McPhee!

KylieJennersTopLip · 08/01/2019 02:28

Look how she lights up the sky
Ma belle Evangeline
So far above me yet I
Know her heart belongs to only me

Je t'adore, je t'aime, Evangeline
You're my queen of the night
So still, so bright

That someone as beautiful as she
Could love someone like me
Love always finds a way, it's true
And I love you, Evangeline

Love is beautiful
Love is wonderful
Love is everything, do you agree?
Mais oui!

Look how she lights up the sky
I love you, Evangeline

I don't know about prettiest, but i like Josephine better

IdaBWells · 08/01/2019 03:06

Evangeline is beautiful but quite the mouthful. I had a friend in London with a Greek father who was called Evangelista, of course she was always known as Lista. So you have to have just as beautiful a nickname to give her or the name will be butchered.

Josephine and Josie are both pretty in my opinion.

What about Raphaela?

MrsTerryPratcett · 08/01/2019 03:12

Is prettiness your ultimate goal for a baby name?

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 08/01/2019 03:21

I see nothing wrong with wanting a pretty time. My name is very pretty.

In regards to your question, I think Josephine is prettier. Also, I have a very long romantic name as well, and you can teach people to call you by your full name and not shorten it.

Good luck! Smile

IdaBWells · 08/01/2019 03:23

The thing is it can be outside your control as once your dd goes off to school her friends may give her a nn or she may prefer it. So good idea to have a non you are happy with just in case.

I also have a longer name that I don’t shorten so it is possible!

MrsTerryPratcett · 08/01/2019 03:31

Well I think of Evangeline as a strong name. And pretty, but definitely strong. So if overall prettiness is the goal, that might not be the name.
Fifi Trixibelle is pretty but not strong IYSWIM.

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 08/01/2019 03:44

Keep your chin up, Op. I don't know why you're getting a hard time oj here. Sisterhood solidarity and all that.

If you want to name your daughter something pretty and feminine then that's your choice and I respect it.

Good luck! Flowers

NutElla5x · 08/01/2019 03:56

Surely it's all down to personal taste. I think Evangeline is a really ugly name.Josephine is nicer but everyone will just call her Jo.

Shadow1234 · 08/01/2019 06:36

Evangeline is my preference out of the two.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 08/01/2019 07:18

Fwiw pretty names imo are - Isabella, Florence, Alice, Cecily, Charlotte, Jemima, Iris, Leonora, Sophia, Lucy, Rose to name a few.

Evangeline isn't pretty to my ears. Quite the opposite. Josephine is ok but I love the nn Posy.

Astronica · 08/01/2019 07:20

I like Josephine best, and I love it's nicknames, Jo, Joey, Posy.

Her0utdoors · 08/01/2019 07:24

Josephine. It was one of my dm favourite names. I feel the burden if a 'pretty' name. What if your dd turns out not to be 'pretty'when she grows up? I'm fat, knackered and angry. I'm conscious how incongruous my name is.

AuntieStella · 08/01/2019 07:26

I prefer Josephine (and agree it has nicer nicknames)

Evangeline is a very Christian name, and if that is the reason you like it so much, then it is probably the better choice for you.

Bouledeneige · 08/01/2019 07:26

Josephine is prettier - but then Evangeline is awful

vivivienne · 08/01/2019 07:59

Evangeline! Strong and pretty. Why is everyone flaming op for wanting a pretty name? She’s not saying her daughter has to grow up pretty, she wants to give her daughter a nice, pretty name

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 08/01/2019 08:01

Evangeline.Josephine sounds a bit harsh on the ear

UptownFlunk · 08/01/2019 08:04

I don’t like Evangeline and think it is quite ugly. It also reminds me of Vaseline.

masterstef · 08/01/2019 08:05

Evangeline is nice but i love Josephine.
Any possibility she'd be given the nn 'vange' at school though?!

JosephineHass · 08/01/2019 08:07

Josephine.😜

ZebraKid71 · 08/01/2019 08:20

Much prefer Josephine! And muhh prefer josie to any of the evangeline nns.

Choosinganame · 08/01/2019 08:24

I don't think either name is 'pretty'.
Evangeline will get called Vange by some which would put me off.
Josephine is my favourite due to Josie and Posy as nicknames but the name itself is a solid one, quite old fashioned. I wouldn't say it's pretty.
