Out of yours, the ones I like the most are Ivy, Marnie, Penny (not Penelope), Martha and Nancy. I hope you manage to pick one you like! Smile

Chocolatecake12 · 04/01/2019 20:31

Dora would get Dora the explorer all the way through school, Nellie reminds me of Nellie the elephant.
Dotty? As a nn yes. It’s not a name for a grown woman.
Remember a cute baby and young girl will spend most of her life as an adult. Name her accordingly! That might help to shorten your list.

calmsealife · 04/01/2019 20:32

I like Cerys or Marnie.

Peachbubble · 04/01/2019 20:36

I like Sasha, April, Martha and Cerys

Awrite · 04/01/2019 20:38

I like Zara, Sasha and Penny.

MarchInHappiness · 04/01/2019 20:52

Sarah, Victoria and Tara seem dated.

Dotty is awful and I'm sure Dotty is a nickname for Dorothy, ditto Lottie and Charlotte.

Bobbie and Stevie are not really proper names for girls, I would even struggle to put those names on a birth certificate for boys. Rainie is also pretty bad.

Millie, Poppy, Eva, Grace and Ruby are nice names but seem a bit meh, all have been done to death for over a decade.

Out of the rest my favourites are Matilda (spell it that way, your DD will have a life time correcting), Zara, Ivy, Molly and Sasha.

BeeYouTiful · 04/01/2019 20:52

I like Dotty & Lottie

Dotty Coral has a nice ring Smile

dachshundmummyandmummytobe · 04/01/2019 20:54

I have an Ottilie Marie. Born in August!
We get so many comments on how unusual her name is but also a lot of people who can't pronounce it!!
Also LOVED Nancy

PersonaNonGarter · 04/01/2019 20:55

One way to thin your list out would be to get rid of all the names that are diminutives or nick names, and only put them back in, if you like the full length name, Lottie, Bobbie, Dotty, Nellie etc etc.

Personally, I wouldn't use April for a baby born in August. Wink

Check out the lists of most popular names in the last couple of years, to avoid your child being Eva number 7 in the swimming class!

RosaAbsolute · 04/01/2019 21:58

Sasha
Ruby
April

I love Ivy but have heard too many recently.

Jessabean · 04/01/2019 21:59

Dora, - not keen- makes me think"the explorer"
Dotty, - also not particularly keen as a full name.
Ada,- like
Ivy, - like
Zara, - like
Stevie, - love as a nickname but not sure as a full name for a girl.
Bobbie, - love. For me is more a boys name though might be just as was our top boy name choice.
Grace, - love
Marnie, - not keen.
Sasha, - not keen.
Penelope, - seems quite popular at the moment. Have heard pen and penny as nicknames. Is ok.
Ottilie, - not really keen.
Mathilda, - is ok but would be shortened probs to Matty or Tilly.
Iris, - like.
Sarah, - ok. Bit boring.
Coral, - not keen.
Ruby, - like.
April, - not keen but personal experience of person I think!
Tara, - not keen
Poppy, - love
Nellie, - love
Lottie, - ok
Millie, - like.
Martha, - not keen.
Eva - like but very popular.
Thea - ok
Nancy - not keen.
Theadora - ok.
Cerys - ok. Makes me think Cerys Mathews
Vitoria - not keen
Catriona - ok.
Micheala - bit boring.
Mollie - ok
Rainey - not keen.
Phillipa/ Pippa - love.

Jessabean · 04/01/2019 22:00

Is there anything that points you towards some more than others? Eg ability to be shortened or not and popularity?

CIT80 · 04/01/2019 22:01

Nellie or Nancy

Bahbahblacksheep · 04/01/2019 22:06

Theadora (or Theodora or Dorothea) - then you can chose your favourite nickname from Dotty, Dora or Thea.

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 04/01/2019 22:17

Vitoria-Very strong and elegant
Catriona- Very exotic and sensual
Michaela-Very romantic and feminine
Sasha- Very sweet and soft

This is from an American perspective with Latin and European roots.

Good luck and congratulations! Smile

TatianaLarina · 04/01/2019 22:20

Iris, Nancy, Matilda and Martha, Zara.

DramaAlpaca · 04/01/2019 22:23

You might want to check your spellings of some of those... Michaela, Theodora and Philippa being the usual versions.

There's a lot of different name styles on your list from vintage to cutesy to modern to classic, so maybe deciding what style you prefer would help narrow it down.
