Hi all!

We have just found out we are having another girl and stuck between 2 names and want others opinions.

Our 3 year old is called Evie.

We're stuck between Hattie or Ava.

Which goes best with Evie?

Hattie!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 30/12/2018 09:57

Hattie

TheRedFox · 30/12/2018 09:58

Hattie for sure!

Evie and Ava sound too similar, rhymey and a bit gimmicky IMO

Madeline88 · 30/12/2018 10:00

Evie and Ava are too similar so Hattie.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 30/12/2018 10:00

Ava is much nicer, but You can't have an Evie and an Ava, so Hattie

kenandbarbie · 30/12/2018 10:04

Hattie, Ava is too similar to evie

MikeUniformMike · 30/12/2018 10:06

I don't like Ava and it's too similar to Evie.

WrapAndRoll · 30/12/2018 10:16

Hattie

Enko · 30/12/2018 10:25

I will actually say that Hattie and Evie are too similar Try calling them both out one after the other its the " ie" sound that makes it hard.. I have 2 dd who both end in a " efa/esa" sound and even now at 15/19 do they struggle to work out who we are calling despite the fact their names are actually very different and when written down you would never think they were alike.

So based on that I would say Ava. However I don't care for Ava that much as a name and I prefer Hattie.

Cazastrophe · 30/12/2018 10:46

My friend has a little one called Hattie and hasn’t met another yet although personally I’m not a fan.
Evie and Ava are far too close.

Other E & A names but different sounding: Elise, Esme, Erin, Ella, Ellie.
Anya, Amelia, Alice, Aria, Aida.

Peachbubble · 30/12/2018 11:06

Hattie

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 30/12/2018 20:07

Harriet nn Hattie

ThatPeskyElf · 30/12/2018 20:09

If you shout Evie and Hattie up the stairs, they sound too similar

Ava all the way

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 30/12/2018 20:14

No they don't I just tried it Grin

Stormsurfer · 30/12/2018 20:16

Ada would work as it takes away the "v" and also the "ie" ending therefore sounding different enough.

Shadow1234 · 31/12/2018 01:15

I just said Hattie and Evie out loud, and dont think they sound similar either! So on that basis, I'm saying Hattie.

ABitOTT · 31/12/2018 01:19

Hattie, because it is less similar to Evie than Ava

DramaAlpaca · 31/12/2018 03:04

Harriet, nn Hattie.

I think Ava is a bit too samey with Evie.

WildCherryBlossom · 31/12/2018 04:27

Evie and Hattie don't sound at all similar Confused

Ava and Evie however... practically the same name.

So on that basis Hattie. But it does sound like a slightly twee name for winter woollens. "Don't forget your Hattie and your Scarfie, it's cold outside."

How about Hetty?

Owloft · 31/12/2018 04:31

Hattie definitely. Ava is a beautiful name but way too similar to Evie.

HeronLanyon · 31/12/2018 05:12

Eva and Evie farntoo similar I think. I like Hattie but two names ending with ‘ie’ seems a bit matchy/curry to me too. Even just an ending of ‘ia’ Would be better to my ear.
However it’s your choice obvs. Congratulations !

HeronLanyon · 31/12/2018 05:13

‘Cutesy’ not curry although early breakfast of curry suddenly sounds rather good Grin

Astronica · 31/12/2018 08:20

Ava is too like Evie in sounds, so I think Hattie would be the better choice.

Ada or Ida would be good though.

MumUnderTheMoon · 31/12/2018 09:01

They are both lovely names but Ava and Evie sound very similar and Hattie rhymes with Evie. Not keen on either of these with Evie.

TatianaLarina · 31/12/2018 09:37

Ava and Eva are basically the same name. And two diminutives as real names is a bit ick. Can you see Evie or Hattie as PM?

I’d go with Harriet.
