In a bid to try and get this overdue baby moving tonight, anyone have suggestions for a winter solstice name for her?

My daughter actually has "winter" as a middle name. Had she been a boy we would have considered it as a first name but we had a girls name we wanted to use already.

She was born in December so appropriate but it's also a family surname and my bil's middle name. We love it and always have v positive responses!

From the other names suggested I love Rowan. Doesn't go with my surname sadly

How are you OP?

@FoxgloveStar
I hope your little lady arrives soon and that you're not too uncomfortable.
Soleia, meaning sunshine, is a lovely name that I came across randomly on Pinterest. We are expecting a boy, so unfortunately we can't use it.

Someone upthread suggested "Cailleach = queen of winter" but in Irish it directly translates to witch or hag Confused
Some of the other suggestions are lovely though!

Seren - Welsh for star

🤣

The Cailleach was was a divine witch and creator deity at a time witches didn’t have negative connotations, it just indicated supernatural powers.

The Cailleach Bheur is also known as Beira in Scotland and was Queen of Winter.

Solstice is a lovely name. I'd never thought of it before but it does have a pleasing ring to it.

Any movement earthwards for the midwinter baby?

This time 9 years ago I was gentle bouncing on a gym ball and doing a few crouching movements with help of sofa most likely. Bellydance was traditionally used in labour as collective encouragement - mum and female entourage. No shimmying perhaps - just gentle hip circles wide or small. Brisk winter walk good too xxx

I agree the turning of the word witch is a patriarchal thing. It's not a bad thing!

Demeter or Demi

I like Holly but the solstice can be about the Holly King and the Oak king and the Holly king gets defeated.
