We've always said we would use this name but I'd like to get others opinions as I'm doubting myself!

For a pet? Yes nice.

nessus · 06/12/2018 13:21

No. Just no.

Rigby?

sonniboo · 06/12/2018 13:22

Not really, I don't find it very strong or masculine sounding.

Outfoxed · 06/12/2018 13:23

Great name for a beagle

LEMtheoriginal · 06/12/2018 13:23

For a dog? Yes

For a child ? Yes again

For on adult? Puts me in mind of a terribly naice but not very bright man who lives in the family pile and is socially awkward.

Sorry

L0kiWh0 · 06/12/2018 13:23

Not to my taste - sounds more like a CBeebies character than a person.

NonaGrey · 06/12/2018 13:24

Sorry Digby is a dog’s name.

stargazer124 · 06/12/2018 13:24

For a dog only.

Coldsleeves · 06/12/2018 13:26

I don't get the whole 'this is a dogs name' thing. That seems very old fashioned way at looking at things.
Most of the dogs I know have human names! Steve, Dave, Rodney, sally, Bertie, Lottie, Millie etc etc etc

For a dog. Reminds of the guy of Made in Chelsea which makes it worse now too.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 06/12/2018 13:28

No. I know a young child named Digby, when people learn his name it’s a case of “Oh...that’s very...unusual....”.

stargazer124 · 06/12/2018 13:28

It's the sound that I'm not keen on. It sounds cute and a little weak imo. I prefer more solid sounding names.

PlayingForKittens · 06/12/2018 13:28

My dd has a friend name Digby. Lovely child. As with any name one you know one them it becomes less unusual. It's a great name.

TeeBee · 06/12/2018 13:29

He would always be associated with 'Digby the biggest dog in the world'...or maybe that's me showing my age :-D

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/12/2018 13:29

I like it OP! Better than all the Alfie's and Jacks knocking about.

Hofuckingho · 06/12/2018 13:30

My friend's Rough Haired Dachshund is called Digby. It sooo suits him.

ikltownofboothlehem · 06/12/2018 13:30

THIS is why people are saying it's a dog's name

WeMarchOn · 06/12/2018 13:31

I just think of Digby on Made In Chelsea

Coldsleeves · 06/12/2018 13:32

There is no such thing as 'a dogs name' I do believe.

See my post above Grin

TheDustbunny · 06/12/2018 13:32

No. It's awful. It's such an ugly name.

ZebraKid71 · 06/12/2018 13:32

I think in this case its not the same as saying its a dogs name in the same way as Luna or Poppy. It's like saying it's a traditional dog name in the same way as something like Rover or Lucky.

Most of the names people describe as dog names I think can be used for both humans or dogs, but Digby is purely a dog name to me. Not even a nice sounding one imo.

Bouchie · 06/12/2018 13:33

It reminds of that business man Digby Jones who had the worst desert island disc song choice ever. He told a story about in the 80s when he was a top hedge fund manager (or some such). On a realky good day of making vile amounts of money they get pissed and sing "we are the champions" Hmm

TheGreenDot · 06/12/2018 13:37

I think it’s cute for a baby young child but the teen years might be tough.....

yikesanotherbooboo · 06/12/2018 13:38

I think it's ok . It's quite masculine, easy to pronounce and spell, not common but not terribly unusual and actually quite fun. I get the dog connection and that was my first thought but I don't agree that it is just a dog's name ie Rover/Fido but rather of the man's name as dog name eg Rex/ Toby . I'm meeting a few Digbys now.

starkid · 06/12/2018 13:46

I like it... for a dog Grin
