So I am expecting my first biological child, It's going to be a girl and I need to find a good name for her.
I would love for it to be Swedish as I was born and raised in Sweden but for it to be both pronouncable and acceptable in England.

My adoptive niece got the beautiful Swedish name Madicken but when I took over her care here in England the name got a little unfortionate since people pointed out it sounded like "My dick"

So prevent this thing to happen to my second baby I want to make sure the name will work here in England.

Here are the names I currently have:

Hilda
Freja
Moa
Nora
Lovisa

Any thouhts or suggestions?
Sorry if my english is off, I just moved Smile

I like what you have on your list, especially Nora. How about:

Elin
Alexandra
Frida
Tilda

I like Nora and Freja from your list, Freya is very popular in the UK.

I also like Astrid and Anneka/Annika.

holasoydora · 04/12/2018 16:03

The one Swedish person I know is called Anna.

OlennasWimple · 04/12/2018 16:04

Norah and Hilda are both "old lady" names in England

I wouldn't know how to pronounce Lovisa ("Low-veesa"? "Loversah"?)

How about

Freya
Alice
Ebba
Linnea
Astrid
Ingrid
Hanna

I do love almost all the names that have been suggested, the only problem is that almost all of them have other family ties. I grew up with 23 siblings and 14 aunts so It's hard to find something that Isn't already taken.

Pick your favourite aunt and honour her Wink

LittleIngrid · 04/12/2018 16:12

Indeed 23 of them. I grew up in a very traditional family and on a farm.
So the more children the merrier!

SadieSue29 · 04/12/2018 16:16

I know a Swedish Malin, Maria, Sara and Emma

Malin is probably my favourite

Pemba · 04/12/2018 16:16

Moa is a very large flightless bird (extinct) from New Zealand. But I guess most people won't know that.

Hilda is considered very old fashioned in the UK. But 'hipster' types might be naming their daughters Hilda maybe.

The others are all fine. How do you pronounce Lovisa?

LittleIngrid · 04/12/2018 16:18

Lovisa would be pronounces Lov-ice-ah if that makes any sense

chumbal · 04/12/2018 16:21

Malin
Susanne

Pemba · 04/12/2018 16:25

With Lovisa, do you mean 'ice' as in snow and ice? If so, I don't really like the sound.

If you mean 'ees' then yes I like it.

tattychicken · 04/12/2018 16:26

Maya?

Flamingosnbears · 04/12/2018 16:29
