So I am expecting my first biological child, It's going to be a girl and I need to find a good name for her.
I would love for it to be Swedish as I was born and raised in Sweden but for it to be both pronouncable and acceptable in England.

My adoptive niece got the beautiful Swedish name Madicken but when I took over her care here in England the name got a little unfortionate since people pointed out it sounded like "My dick"

So prevent this thing to happen to my second baby I want to make sure the name will work here in England.

Here are the names I currently have:

Hilda
Freja
Moa
Nora
Lovisa

Any thouhts or suggestions?
Sorry if my english is off, I just moved Smile

Lina. If if have had a DD she'd have been Lina after a Swedish friend.

Topseyt · 04/12/2018 17:18

Astrid for me.

Ingrid? I think it is Swedish.

Shadow1234 · 04/12/2018 17:26

I think Freja from your list is the best.

Madicken could be altered to Madchen or Majken?

TatianaLarina · 04/12/2018 19:19

I like Inge too.

ceeveebee · 04/12/2018 19:20

Anya / Anja?

UtterlyDesperate · 04/12/2018 19:22

Ulrike? Fritha?

But I think Nora(h) and Freja are also lovely.

TatianaLarina · 04/12/2018 19:22

Def not Hilda - it’s a joke old lady name here Hilda Ogden.

And ‘Fucking Nora’ is a standard British phrase.

AdultHumanFemale · 04/12/2018 19:25

CarolSpatula · 04/12/2018 19:27

All of those would work in English (as in they don’t translate as anything bad!). Hilda, Nora and Freja are very familiar names to people in England. Nora and freja are quite popular I think.

TatianaLarina · 04/12/2018 19:29

Madeleine är tråkigt och över används i England.

NameChange30 · 04/12/2018 19:33

Nora is my favourite, it's lovely, and I also like Freja - although it will probably be misspelled as Freya a lot in the UK.

Parker231 · 04/12/2018 19:35

My Swedish friend is Emelie and her daughter, Elsa.

SmallYappyTypeDog · 04/12/2018 19:38

Elin is one of my favourite names and I would have chosen it for my daughter. However, I think most British people would pronounce it more like Ellen which is a name I am not fond of.

Your parents had 24 children? Really???

AdultHumanFemale · 04/12/2018 19:41

Tatiana visst är det tråkigt, men jag tror inte OP kommer tillbaka.

TatianaLarina · 04/12/2018 19:43
