Italian boys names

We moved to Italy a few months ago and are expecting our second child. We have chosen 'Luna' for a girl but are struggling to choose a boys name. We would love an Italian name but it needs to transfer well to England as we plan to move back in a year or so.

Names we like:
Alessio
Alberto (nn Albie)
Elia (DH's idea, I'm not so keen)
Monte (midwives say this is not a normal name here though which we are sad by as we loved the meaning of 'mountain' as we are always up exploring in the mountains).

We are both teachers and in our school names such as Lorenzo, Riccardo, Alessandro and Tomasso are very over used. We'd prefer something a bit different.

Thanks for your help.

Not sure if it's also a name in Italian, but I've always liked Mateo.

Italians don't do out there names so I'd steer clear of Monte. It's not a name.

We've got a Luca. In our family there are Federico, Fillippo, Matteo, Alessandro..

Domenico is my favourite. There's one in my Dad's class and he adorable.

Zeno pronounced 'zayn-o'

Monte is fine as a middle name. I quite like it as a first name too. If you're only going to be in Italy a year after baby born I wouldn't worry about it not being a 'real name' in Italy

saffkey1 · 30/12/2018 07:47

I love the name Enzo x

saffkey1 · 30/12/2018 07:51

Although my husbands friend is Italian (he’s an Enzo ) and his boys are called Luca,Marcello and Marco
For reference his daughter is Carmella x

DailyMailFuckRightOff · 30/12/2018 07:54

Francesco, Andrea (boy’s name in italy), Daniele.
FWIW does it matter about not choosing ‘overused’ names if you’re moving back to the UK?

TurquoiseDress · 31/12/2018 14:45
