I was born late 60s. Janet was the name of a teacher or woman at the post office. Not a child

IsThereRoomAtTheInn · 10/12/2018 17:11

I've only known one seventies Janet. Jeanettes I knew a good few more.

IsThereRoomAtTheInn · 10/12/2018 17:13

Joanne, Pauline/ Paula, Lynne, Lorraine, Elaine, Susan, Susan and Susan are what I remember!

Pemba · 11/12/2018 05:11

I'm wondering if all the people who knew loads of 70s-born Janets were in Scotland?

No Janets at my school in the Midlands, but there were quite a few Janes. I get the feeling Jane has never been popular in Scotland, so maybe Janet replaced it up there?

Ladymargarethall · 11/12/2018 07:21

DD knows one seventies Janet (who calls herself Jay) she is the only one. It must be regional.

yikesanotherbooboo · 11/12/2018 07:35

Lots of these names eg Daphne, Margaret, Joan, Doris , Nora etc are back.
It's the Terry, Trevor, Doreen, Pam generation that haven't quite but past experience would suggest they soon will

Bouncingbelle · 12/12/2018 00:30

Surely these names wont be back (tho my granny could never understand the popularity of Laura - she insisted it was an old lady name!)
Percy
Dwayne
Desmond
Eugene
Fanny
Olive
Pauline

payperview · 12/12/2018 01:04

I know a Josie and Daphe. Both little ones.

Pemba · 12/12/2018 01:18

Actually BouncingBelle I have seen Olive suggested loads of times on baby naming threads. It is popular with hipster types I believe, and thought of as a fresher alternative to Olivia. Can't stand Olive as a name myself, Olives belong in jars!

Have also seen Percy suggested. I find it ridiculous, but I've definitely seen it. Also Eugene is occasionally suggested, but I don't mind that.

turnipsaretheonlyveg · 12/12/2018 01:28

I am scared to confess that if I had had another girl we were going to name her Persephone but call her Percy day to day!

CoolForKatz · 12/12/2018 01:29

Paula
Joanna
Julie
Catherine
Carol
Katrina
Natasha

Sidney
Steven
Alan
Richard
Ken
Simon
Mark

David Tennant's three children are called Olive, Wilfred and Doris... Smile

ViragoKnows · 12/12/2018 07:15

Bit of a clash with their half brother’s name.

Elderflower14 · 12/12/2018 07:21

Yup. I thought that too...
