Is Herbert awful?

I love the nickname Herbie but don’t feel as if it’s ‘proper’ enough as a full name. Is Herbert awful and too old man-ish. Are there any other names that can result in the nn herbie?

Did you like it before you got pregnant or do you think that hormones might be clouding your judgement?

Hellywelly10 · 05/11/2018 21:56

Are you a troll?

Wellonlyifihaveto · 05/11/2018 21:57

Peakypolly · 05/11/2018 22:00

Herbert is lovely, but I know 4 dogs, including my own, with that name.

FogCutter · 05/11/2018 22:00

It's a no from me too.

dulcefarniente · 05/11/2018 22:01

Have you not heard the phrase "he's a right scruffy herbert"?

Moominfan · 05/11/2018 22:02

Don't think it's different to all the Henry's, georges old man names out there. Can't move for Archie's

CrookedMe · 05/11/2018 22:04

It's awful.

VenelopeVonSweetz · 05/11/2018 22:08

Fooferella · 05/11/2018 22:10

Yes, it is awful. Herbie is also awful, sorry.

Wetdressinggownsleeve · 05/11/2018 22:10

Herbert is used as an insult round here.. "Dave's a right fucking Herbert".
So no, definitely not.

PurpleDaisies · 05/11/2018 22:12

Awful.

Patienceisvirtuous · 05/11/2018 22:12

I know of a Herbie, probably about 8. V. hipster parents.

Redshoeblueshoe · 05/11/2018 22:21

Actually I think it was more positive Grin
I think it's due a comeback

curlies · 06/11/2018 00:39

I know a Herb, he's about 7 and he's lovely, really suits him.

Eleanor90 · 06/11/2018 08:20

I personally hate Herbert and Herbie, sorry, but I do think it would be quite a fashionable but not popular choice.
