Elsa or Clara

These are our top choices for girls but can't choose between them. The only reservation I have about Elsa is the frozen connection but not sure how big of an issue it would be and love the name. Clara I maybe like slightly less but still think it's lovely.

I think the frozen thing is what people are going to think of first every time they hear it! Both names are lovely though.

I prefer Clara

Definitely Clara. Still far too much of a Frozen link for now I think.

Elsa. I know a 4 year old Elsa. The name is definitely HER and not the Frozen character

The Frozen buzz has died down a bit so I think, although the link will still be there, it’s a little less of an issue than it would have been a few years ago. Also people use the names Aurora and Belle with no issue. If you like it go for it!

Speaking from experience I would sadly avoid Elsa. I think it's such a pretty name but the Frozen thing totally ruined it for us. Another film is coming out next year as well so the hype definitely won't settle.

I've now heard of 5 children (no exaggeration) who had their name changed due to the Frozen thing. Two of them were 4 years old, the others under 2. For us all the comments just got ridiculously irritating, people seriously thought we were naming our baby after a Disney film and I just couldn't stand the connection. The more you consider the name, the more Frozen merchandise, little girls dressed as Elsa, and 'I love Elsa' type things you see everywhere!

I agree that Elsa = Frozen. It's a beautiful name though (always loved Elsa the lion). I don't like Clara but I'd lean towards it over Elsa right now.

my daughter is an Elsa and hates the frozen connection. She is always being told to "let it go"
Not quite so bad these days but she really got a lot of stick when the film came out.

Clara is the nutcracker to me. With the new movie coming out soon this might put me off using Clara.
Elsa is pretty but also makes me think of frozen.

I don't like the 'cl' sound of Clara. It's clunky. But I agree that Frozen has ruined Elsa

Really don’t like Elsa so by default - Clara.

I like Elsa, and this would be my choice - but I think lion more than Frozen. I know the film but wouldn't actually know the names of the characters apart from the snowman.
Clara is nice, too, but that's becoming quite popular too. It's completely linked to the Nutcracker for me, an as pp said, the film of that is out very soon.

I don't like Clara at all. Elsa is nice. Lara and Cara are nice too.

I am not keen on Clara. I like Elsa apary from the Frozen connection. There is a 2nd film due out next year too. How about Ailsa?

I've loved Clara for years but sadly wouldn't be able to use it as it's too similar to my name.

But Elsa is a lovely name.

Love Clara. If had a girl would have used it. Not hugely popular but has a familiar not out there sound
