What do you think of Monica for a girl? I really like how it sounds, but the meanings are leader, advisor, alone, lonely :( And I have no idea how you would shorten the name. Mon? Nica?
Any thoughts? Grin

Mons, Monnie other option diminutives.

Another2day · 01/11/2018 14:08

Monica is lovely.

Why on earth does Monica need a shortening?!? It's nice as it is. It's easy to say!

Another2day · 01/11/2018 14:09

I know 2 Monicas and 1 Monika and none shorten their names.

daisypond · 01/11/2018 14:28

I like it.

shesabloodywitch · 01/11/2018 14:36

We have a monnie

SuperstarDJ · 01/11/2018 14:48

Monica seems like quite a harsh, stern name to me. But that might be because the only Monica that I know is a bit scary and I associate the name with her.

It’s not a name that needs shortening imo.

Another2day · 01/11/2018 15:02

Monica is beautiful! Monnie isn't imo.

Another2day · 01/11/2018 15:02

Monnie sounds like money

customerservicenightmare · 01/11/2018 15:09

I always think of Harmonica. Not that that's a bad thing. Might get kids saying stuff like whoremonica or something like that.

midsomermurderess · 01/11/2018 15:24

'whoremonica '? Christ, that's a stretch.

User24689 · 01/11/2018 18:55

I know an adult Monica, she is Mon. Love it!

greathat · 01/11/2018 18:58

Bing!

Polkasq · 01/11/2018 20:56

I like Monica.

Bouncingbelle · 02/11/2018 00:57

I love it, unusual but not weird. I know one in her 30s and a toddler. The one in her 30s gets "mon" or "Moni".id like to be called Monica why did my sister get the better name

AmbraS · 02/11/2018 09:11

i Like Monica

RedDwarves · 02/11/2018 09:17

Don't like it. Only makes me think of 1) Lewinski, and 2) Geller.

It's harsh and outdated.

customerservicenightmare · 02/11/2018 11:22

'whoremonica '? Christ, that's a stretch

Yes, it quite possibly involves a bit of stretching Wink

customerservicenightmare · 02/11/2018 11:26

There's already a band called Whoremonica.

customerservicenightmare · 02/11/2018 11:27

Jokes about it too:

Bill Clinton gave up playing the saxaphone and instead took up the whoremonica since it is a much more orally engaging instrument

Just giving OP other things to think about. I don't dislike the name per se.

HoraceWimple · 02/11/2018 11:32

It’s better than Monican’t.

MorticiaAddamsIsMyStyleGuru · 02/11/2018 11:40

I love Monica. It's a beautiful name in my opinion. I also love it because of my cousin, Monica. She is beautiful, intelligent and caring. That's makes me love the name more.

eachtigertires · 03/11/2018 00:29

I like it! Won’t be many babies around named that right now I wouldn’t think.

YourMilkshakeIsBetterThanMine · 03/11/2018 00:36

How about Monana? It's Dutch. Pennsylvania Dutch.

DaisyDream44 · 03/11/2018 02:09

So many nice comments! Thanks you guys so much! I think she'll be named Monica, and even if I don't really like the shortened form 'Mon' I still think the name itself is beautiful. And yes, it doesn't have to be shortened at all Grin
