Silver for a girl?

What does everyone think of the name Silver for a girl? the name came to me with a sudden rush of emotion and I’ve always wanted to name my baby after something to do with the moon and the Silver brightness of the moon seems perfect.

I know it’s most likely a marmite name and negative views probably won’t put me off too much. Also any ideas of a middle name to go with it?

I like it. We have an unusual name which could be an adjective so we put it in the middle even though DS goes by it-it's quite a tradition in our family anyway. So Marianne Silver, rather than Silver Marianne (which Marianne? Oh you know, silver Marianne). Wow not sure I explained that properly sorry not had much sleep

How about Sliver?

When I first read it I didn't like it, but reading through the posts and hearing it more it's grown on me. I would automatically assume it was a boys name though. I really like pp suggestion of the spelling Sylva.

I think it’s a great name. Spelt Silva, I read it as Saliva! But Silver is lovely. And any of the Sylvia, Sylvie, Sylve type similar names.

I knew a lady called Goldie who was absolutely the coolest person ever!

I only like Silver spelt like this. Agree with another poster that you’ve got to not care - someone will always have an opinion on anything slightly different!

I have a male (French-born) friend called Silva.

Silver isn't a (human) name. (Lovely for an equine.)

Silvan is a lovely old English name meaning woodlands. You can spell in Sylvan, maybe add an A, Sylvana~and consider Skye as a middle name? :)

Not read the whole thread but I think Silver is very unusual but a lovely name, go for it OP

Arian is Welsh for silver if that helps
