We are in London and my girls have so many repeated names in their classes. But the repeats don’t match the top 5 names for their birth year which is interesting.

Where do you live and what names double up in your child’s class?

DD is in a year 7 cohort with:
5 x Isabella
3 x Matilda/Tilly/Tilda
3 x Sophia
2x Eloise
2x Florence

DD2 is in a year 4 class of 30 with
4x Daisy
2x Zoe
2x Milly

DS1 has had Hugo x2, Theo x2, Ben/Benjamin and Arthur x2.

DS2 has Eddie x2 and Freddie x2 all in the same class of 20.

But when I was at school we had 5 Emmas and 3 Millies in a class of 90!

I'm I teacher - in one Year 8 class I have
3 x Tyler
3 x Evan
2 x Jack
2 x Evie
2 x Ella

In another class I have 2 girls named Emma but they are the only ones with that name in the whole school. For some reason, in our school children with repeated names all seem to end up in the same class!

snidgetowl · 13/10/2018 22:11

Typo above, I'm a teacher - obviously not on the ball on a Saturday night!

Last academic year, 3/4 Children had both a Theo and an Amelia in their class (single-form entry Primary). Other cross-year duplicates are Sophie, Josh, Charlie, Jack, Grace, Lily, Isabelle/Isabella/Isobel, Jacob, Kate/Katie, James, Oliver/Ollie, Megan, Zach/Zak/Zachary ...

HeadHeartandSoul · 13/10/2018 22:21

Oh, and Emily ...

bluechameleon · 14/10/2018 21:16

DS is 4 and in nursery. In his class there are 2 Freyas and 2 Amelias.

faithinthesound · 17/10/2018 14:54

New Zealand. In a Year 7/8 class, I have:

Grace x2
Jessica/Jess x 2
Saskia x2

I also have a Holly and a Hayley, which are fairly confusing especially as both girls (and one of the Graces) are tall and blonde!

ThanksItHasPockets · 17/10/2018 18:26

they are the only ones in their respective year groups but it wouldn't bother me if there were others with the same name in the class.

Isn’t it more about whether it would bother them?!

MrsCLRoff · 17/10/2018 19:13

Olivia, Josh, Sam, Tom, and Abby. All of which are quite common names

Sunflower321 · 17/10/2018 21:42

they are the only ones in their respective year groups but it wouldn't bother me if there were others with the same name in the class.

As previous posters have said, it's your child that has to live with it. And I'm sure the teacher would prefer not to have several kids with the same name either.

Aquilla · 17/10/2018 22:26

Thomas x2
Isabelle x3
Grace x2
Evie x2

RaspberryBeret34 · 17/10/2018 22:32

2 x Martha
3 x Charlie

RaspberryBeret34 · 17/10/2018 22:33
