Which names are repeated in your child’s class

We are in London and my girls have so many repeated names in their classes. But the repeats don’t match the top 5 names for their birth year which is interesting.

Where do you live and what names double up in your child’s class?

DD is in a year 7 cohort with:
5 x Isabella
3 x Matilda/Tilly/Tilda
3 x Sophia
2x Eloise
2x Florence

DD2 is in a year 4 class of 30 with
4x Daisy
2x Zoe
2x Milly

AlliKaneErikson · 12/10/2018 20:21

Ella x 3, Charlie x 3, Connor x 2.
I once taught a class with 7 Kate/Katies!

Racecardriver · 12/10/2018 20:24

I'm really surprised that you know the names of the other kids. I'm pretty sure there were two Harry's at one point but obviously one or both of the. Could be a Henry.

DragonGoby · 12/10/2018 21:44

Racecar - I know the names of the other kids at primary school, but not for my DC1 at secondary.

BonnieF · 12/10/2018 21:51

This is nothing new. Back in the 80s, my year group contained 5 Sharons out of 70 girls...

nocluenoidea · 12/10/2018 22:02

We're in Australia and in my daughters preschool of 30 children there isn't one repeat. People are a bit more 'out there' with names here so maybe there's a wider variety. E.g there's a Soren, Romy, Sia, Taj, Sorrel...

ifigoup · 12/10/2018 22:38

We have 2 x Gracie-Mae, both of whose surnames begin with the same letter!

AlliKaneErikson · 13/10/2018 00:35

Forgot Macauley- there are two of those too.

Choccywoccyhooha · 13/10/2018 00:42

Y4 class of 30: 2 Mollys, 3 Graces, 2 Callums, 2 Olivers, and 2 Oscars.
Y3 class of 30: 2 Finns, 2 Joshuas, 2 Toms
Reception class of 30: No doubled-up names!

FogCutter · 13/10/2018 00:51

My DCs primary year groups have

2x Charlie (1boy and 1 girl)
2x Sophia
2x Emily

NerdyBird · 13/10/2018 01:02

DD reception class of 30 there are no repeats, but I know there are 2x Daniel in the year group of 60, one in each class. I only know a few names in the other class though.
In my year group of possibly around 80 or so (can't remember!) there were 4 x Matthew (3 in one class) and 3 x Helen, 2x Claire and for a short time 2 x my name.

TheGhostOfYou · 13/10/2018 06:10

Year 2

X2 Eva
X2 Max
X2 Jacob
X2 Dylan

That's all, well all I can remember anyway.

ladybirdsaredotty · 13/10/2018 15:10

Grace
Sophia

Others too but they pale into insignificance compared to how often these two are repeated at my DDs' school! Lovely names, though.

Shockers · 13/10/2018 15:15

I visit different schools/classes with my job.

In one class there are four Finleys (different spellings though).

In another there are three Leons.

Sunflower321 · 13/10/2018 16:01

This is nothing new. Back in the 80s, my year group contained 5 Sharons out of 70 girls...

But some people are implying that this happens less nowadays as there are more names to choose from.

According to this thread it still seems to be an issue

Binkybix · 13/10/2018 17:03

None in my Y1 class. London also, with lots of parents of various nationalities.

Crunchymum · 13/10/2018 17:36

No repeats in either of my kids classes.

Although there is a Jimmy and a James (he goes by Jimmy. That's his given name, not sure about his BC name though!)
