We are in London and my girls have so many repeated names in their classes. But the repeats don’t match the top 5 names for their birth year which is interesting.

Where do you live and what names double up in your child’s class?

DD is in a year 7 cohort with:
5 x Isabella
3 x Matilda/Tilly/Tilda
3 x Sophia
2x Eloise
2x Florence

DD2 is in a year 4 class of 30 with
4x Daisy
2x Zoe
2x Milly

Classes of 30. Year 6 has 3 x Joseph and 2 x Emily. Year 2 has 3 x Sebastian and 2 x Joseph.

Y2

2x Charlie
2x Alice
2x Harriet

We have loads of names that aren’t exact matches but that have a very similar sound so no one can call anyone in the playground without twenty kids turning around.

For the girls several Isla/Ayla/Ayala/Ella and follow them up with a load of Amelie/Amelia/Emilie/Emilia/Milly/Evie until they are all interchangeable in your head and you trip over all your vowel sounds.

For the boys there is a lot of Aiden/Aidan/Aaron/Jayden/Kayden/Caden/Mason and Logan/brogan Seb/Seth.

Oh and all the boys named Alexander are known by Xander.

DS had four Jemimas in his (large) year group.
DD has two Scarletts in hers.

There aren't many repeated names in DDs class surprisingly. I think there are:

2x Lois
2x Dominic
2x Freya

So many of these names that I don't know a single child called that in our area!

My eldest dd is 18, in her school year there are literally about 12 girls called Grace. When there are school photos of events they even have “pictures of some Graces” etc. Some have changed their name to a completely different nickname because it was so frustating for them.

Year 9 - repeated names are; Lewis, Oliver, Harry, Lily, Ellie, Alfie, Chloe

Chrisinthemorning · 12/10/2018 17:11

West Yorkshire
Year 2.
2 Iris and 2 Daniel

My daughter is in nursery, but there are at least 3 Leo's in her class.

Also 2 Evangelines.

KitKatCHA · 12/10/2018 17:17

4 X Amelia in DD's in reception class. Luckily all surnames are different!

Jagblue · 12/10/2018 17:24

We had in a class of 30:
2x Joseph
2x Kian
2x Erin

Roomba · 12/10/2018 17:25

DS1 (Y8) has in his class of 30:
4 x Jack
2 x Sam
2 x Max

DS2 (Y2) has in his class of 29:
2 x Iris
2 x Sid
2 x Grace
2 x Evie (one is an Evangeline)

In DS1's drama group of 16, there are 3 girls named Ruby and 2 Sams. That gets very confusing apparently).

None of this is new though. I had 4 x Catherine/Katherine/Kathryn's in my class, ong with 3 Claires, 2x Lees and 2x Daniels. It seemed as though every guy I met in uni was called Matthew/Matt or Stephen/Steve at one point too!

LittleMouseontheDairy · 12/10/2018 18:19

In my DS’s Yr 2 class there are:
Dexter x 2
Zach x 2
Evie x 2
In reception there are Poppy x 3 that I know of.

PotteringAlong · 12/10/2018 18:21

Year 2

2 x Hannah

No repeats in school nursery class.

RuthW · 12/10/2018 19:28

Not at a school but I work where I get to know new baby names. The only ones I can think of that are repeated this year are Parker and Roman.

Mustangsallyis · 12/10/2018 19:30

Oliver is only repeated name in DS nursery class

Gigis · 12/10/2018 19:34

Bit off topic but last year I taught a class that had 2 girls with the exact same first name and surname. Their middle names were different but both began with the same letter too!

buscaution · 12/10/2018 19:35

2 x Leah
2 x Erin
2 x Eilidh
3 x Isla
2 x Cameron
3 x Callum
3 x Harry

Fatted · 12/10/2018 19:36

In reception, there's two Isla's and two Amelia's. Don't think there's any duplicate boy names. In nursery, there's no duplicates.

Although there does seem to be the same names across the classes. So both boys are friends with an Ollie and Jacob which gets a bit confusing!

greendale17 · 12/10/2018 19:37

William
Rose
Lucian

Thebeautifullisette · 12/10/2018 19:38

2 DCs, one has 2x Aya. That’s it!

OhFlipMama · 12/10/2018 19:38

Wow! no repeated names in my children's classes (y1 and y5)

RickOShay · 12/10/2018 19:41

Popular names at primary are
Charlie x5
Oscar x4
Lily x4
Ruby x3

littlegecko · 12/10/2018 19:43
