We are in London and my girls have so many repeated names in their classes. But the repeats don’t match the top 5 names for their birth year which is interesting.

Where do you live and what names double up in your child’s class?

DD is in a year 7 cohort with:
5 x Isabella
3 x Matilda/Tilly/Tilda
3 x Sophia
2x Eloise
2x Florence

DD2 is in a year 4 class of 30 with
4x Daisy
2x Zoe
2x Milly

Aled, Steffan, Rhys and Osian for boys.
Cerys and Elin for girls.
My DC are all secondary age, and we are (fairly obviously) in Wales.

I'm a secondary teacher and this year there are 3 boys called Jack in one of my year 7 classes!

My year 8 form also has 2 boys called Sam and 2 boys called Harrison.

I have a year 3 dd and repeats in her class are:

Lilia x 2
Charlotte x 2
Annabelle/Annabel x 2

Archie X2
Samuel x 2
Joshua x 2
Finley x 2

My year 1 dd is in the same class as:

Evie x 2
Molly x 2

Arthur x 3
Austin x 2

For what it's worth my dds are called Olivia and Isabella, they are the only ones in their respective year groups but it wouldn't bother me if there were others with the same name in the class.

Hidillyho · 13/10/2018 20:37

Sophia x 2

Our DD has the same name as another child which is really annoying. Her name wasn’t even top 50 when we named her and now it’s top 10!

Kraggle · 13/10/2018 21:04

Dd’s Year 1 class and we have and Evie and an Evelyn and two Ellie’s.

Childrenofthesun · 13/10/2018 21:06

My DDs have no duplicates in their class. They have top ten names and there is only one other of each name in the whole school.

I'm also a primary school teacher and can't remember the last time I taught a class with duplicate names in. It does seem to happen less frequently these days. I remember when there always seemed to be at least two Daniels in every class.

Babybearsporij · 13/10/2018 21:08

The only repeated names in DS’s nursery cohort are William and Oliver.

Aragog · 13/10/2018 21:16

I work in an infants school so 4-7yo.

Repeated names :

Clementine - probably the most popular name we have here
Sidney
Arthur
Emily

Itsear · 13/10/2018 21:18

The stats are misleading because you don’t get to read about very similar names or the same names spelled differently (unless it is the name Mohammad/Muhammed written about in the right wing media). In my experience Isabelle/Isobel/Izzy/Isabella is by far the most common girls name of the latest generation and Oliver is the most common boys name. There are also millions of Sophies (Sophia/Sofia). They will just be the Claires and Sarahs of their age.

ShowOfHands · 13/10/2018 21:19

Oliver
Oscar
Isaac
Sophie
Olivia
Ella
Thomas

2 of each in a class of 32.

Muddlingalongalone · 13/10/2018 21:27

Dd1 is yr3 & 2 form entry the only duplicate name is Arun/Aaron x3 (pronounced the same even though i would say Aaron as air-on personally)
Poor dd2 has a top 10 name (stupidly I didn't check and had no idea) and there will definitely be at least 1 other when she starts reception next year. She hates the new apprentice child care worker at nursery sharing her name!!!

TooManyBooksTooLittleTime · 13/10/2018 21:27

3 x Isobel (all different spellings)
2 x Niamh (different spellings)
