Juliet?

The name has a link to our surname but it’s not a recent link. I just want to see if anyone thinks of it before completely writing off the name as a no.

Thanks Smile

The dice was loaded from the start

Grin Grin

the very first single I ever bought!

Juliet Lewis sounds very nice. There are lots of people called Juliet, not just Romeo's girlfriend. Think Juliet Stevenson, the actress, for a start. I've known a few. Often called 'Jules' for short which is a pleasant and friendly diminutive.

Juliette is very popular in France.

Frazzlerock · 12/10/2018 13:31

I've just realised your surname is Lewis! Do you want your child to have almost the same name as a very famous actress?

Juliet is very pretty, regardless.

HalfBloodPrincess · 12/10/2018 13:39

@frazzlerock this is the problem! I just wanted to gauge whether she was a famous enough actress for people to automatically know her and think of her first when they hear Juliet. I don’t mind if it’s in a more of a ‘that sounds familiar’ way.

I only know her from cape fear. Wasn’t really sure of her popularity Iyswim.

I think she is hugely popular, but I am a child of the 90's and she was in everything then. Maybe not so popular now, I can't remember what she was last in...

I say go for it!

LeeMiller · 12/10/2018 15:43

If I hear Juliet I think Romeo. If I think Just Lewis I do think the actress. But, it might be a generational things as she was in a lot of films when I was growing up, I can't remember seeing her in anything recently.

MrsEricBana · 12/10/2018 15:50

Not really an issue and she was a Juliette (and she was/is cool and edgy and went out with Brad Pitt!)

BewareOfDragons · 12/10/2018 15:59

I think it's lovely.

BackIntoTheSun · 12/10/2018 16:01

I did think of Juliette Lewis (after thinking Romeo). Not sure how famous she is, I only know her from the tv show Secrets and Lies

Frogletmamma · 12/10/2018 16:03

Oh Jane we think alike!

bridgetreilly · 12/10/2018 16:04

Never heard of Juliet Lewis. I think it's a lovely name.

brizzledrizzle · 12/10/2018 16:06

Somebody with long dark hair, short and sturdy - I've known 3 Juliets and they have all been like that.

bridgetreilly · 12/10/2018 16:07

I googled. She'll be 45 or 46 years older than your daughter and I don't think she's exactly a household name even now. Plus she spells her name differently. I think it's fine.

MrsFezziwig · 12/10/2018 16:09

I have no idea who Juliet (or Juliette) Lewis is, and I was around in the 90s.

Sallygoroundthemoon · 12/10/2018 16:10

It's a lovely name.

sexnotgender · 12/10/2018 16:10

It’s a beautiful name and was on my list but I’m having a boy.

I’d still use it with your surname.

arwenearlythereyet · 12/10/2018 16:13

Makes me think of the one Juliet I know - she's in her mid-50s and is elegant, funny and runs a very successful ethical business.

Beautiful name.

HeadfirstForHalos · 12/10/2018 16:13

I've heard of Juliet Lewis but I don't think it's an issue. It's a beautiful name.

arwenearlythereyet · 12/10/2018 16:14

Oh sorry did not read whole thread!

I think you are absolutely fine. She's unlikely to have some huge career renaissance now and she was supercool anyway so...

RiverTam · 12/10/2018 16:17

Juliet Capulet
Juliet Bravo

Juliette Lewis wasn't even on my radar though possibly that's because I see it as a different name (I mean when I see it written down).

LauraPalmersBodybag · 12/10/2018 16:18

It’s a nice name. I did realise it was an actors name after a beat or so, but so what? By the time your daughter is even of school age, it’ll be even further out of public consciousness. I work in a school, and shake my proverbial head at the 7 year old Mylee’s etc, but Juliette Lewis isn’t a huge name now. If you like it, go for it.

batshitbetty · 12/10/2018 16:20

I'd immediately think of Brad Pitt, Natural Born Killers, Kalifornia or What's eating Gilbert grape - but suspect she is only relevant to people of a certain age

rainingcatsanddog · 12/10/2018 18:27

I'm 40 and know Juliette Lewis but my teenagers wouldn't have a clue who she was. I think it's fine to use as long as your surname isn't Montague or Capulet.

rainingcatsanddog · 12/10/2018 18:29

Everybody thought that Winona's career was dead but she made it back so it's not impossible for Juliette to do the same imo. She's not been in the tabloids for a long time so it's fine to forget her public past imo.

HalfBloodPrincess · 12/10/2018 23:07

Thank you all. I love the name, and it’s staying on the list for now but it’s still niggling a bit. I’m only actually around 9 weeks pregnant so got quite a long time to decide.

Quite liking Romeo for a boy after reading these replies though 😂😂😂
