Kathryn?

We're having a girl in December, and for as long as I can remember I've wanted the name Kathryn if I had a daughter. It's only since we found out the gender and I mentioned the name that I've had a few bad reactions to it - from a colleague saying it's boring, to my mum who said it's too big a name for a little baby!

I'm kicking myself for saying anything to anyone, I should have just kept quiet until she was here.

My DH really likes it too, but maybe that's because I've gone on about it so much to him that he's conditioned 😉

Is it really that bad a name in peoples opinion? And do you think it will go with the name Nathan (our DS1)?

Thanks x

Wow, thank you so much for your responses everyone :) you've all filled me with confidence about the name. Oh my, didn't think of the nicknames 'Nate' and 'Kate' though! I'll have to be super careful about that haha x

MiL is a Kathryn and goes by Kate. We were going to have Kathryn as a middle name if we had a girl. Lots of nick name possibilities for Kathryn (of any spelling) and your mum is being silly - you're naming a person who will become a woman, not just a baby!

It's a beautiful name, my daughter's friend is a Kathryn, beautiful young lady, she gets Kathy too.
