Lovely! Don't think it's too common - I don't imagine there would always be another one in the class, but probably occasionally would, if you know what I mean. (I'm a primary school teacher!)

Icklepup · 07/10/2018 12:43

It's lovely

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 07/10/2018 12:45

I love the name Emma. It was my grans name and I really wish I’d given it to dd but we were trying not to name after anyone as it always offends someone but really wish we had.
I think it’s one of those timeless names.

ifoundthebread · 07/10/2018 12:46

That's my neices name. Not overly common but not one of them never heard of names.

TatianaLarina · 07/10/2018 14:19

Another Emma. (MN username)

She will always be Emma P.

Missillusioned · 07/10/2018 14:21

Emma Esther doesn't scan though. It's difficult to say and the two names kind of run into each other.

mothertobe789 · 07/10/2018 14:40

Not sure how popular it is now but there were five in my school class, im 28 now. Not heard of any children or new babies called emma so it may not be as popular now. Its a lovely name. X

Nellyelora · 07/10/2018 17:18

It was the 52nd most popular name in 2017 with over a thousand born. The chances of having another in the same class is very low, but personally, all the Emma's I know are a bit bland so that's the image it conjures for me. Sorry.

ImNotonLinkedInNo · 07/10/2018 17:19

Love it. It is a classic.

SneakySneaky · 07/10/2018 17:56

I don’t know of any Emma under the age of about 20. I think it’s unlikely there would be another on in her class.

Lovely name. Timeless, classic, everyone knows how to spell and pronounce it.

howrudeforme · 07/10/2018 17:59

Nice name - I hated it in the 80s thought it old fashioned - now I’m pleased to have it.

PippilottaLongstocking · 07/10/2018 18:01

Emma and Esther are both names that age well, classic and not dated, but Emma Esther really doesn’t work.

runningscare · 07/10/2018 18:02

Always thought the name Emma was boring.

Sallygoroundthemoon · 07/10/2018 18:03

Emma is lovely but not sure about Emma Esther. Sounds a little odd.

Theweasleytwins · 07/10/2018 18:04

My lg due next month is called Emma💖

SoftSheen · 07/10/2018 18:05

Lovely :)

dementedpixie · 07/10/2018 18:06

I have one age 15 (nearly). There are a few in her year at school

missmouse101 · 07/10/2018 18:07

Boring, boring, boring! Always disliked it.

Belindabauer · 07/10/2018 19:02

Lovely name.
I don't think it's over used either.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 07/10/2018 19:05

I think it's a very popular common name, however I haven't heard of any young Emma's for a while, they are all my age.
Emma Esther doesn't sound right though.

EBearhug · 07/10/2018 19:06

I'm an Emma, and one of the things I appreciate as I've got older is that people from all sorts of language backgrounds can pronounce it and spell it with no problem. Not that that played any part in my parents' choice of it.

liquidrevolution · 07/10/2018 19:07

Slightly biased as DD Aged 4 is an Emma.

I think I've met 4 Emma's under the age of 7 since she was born.

She's the only Emma in her primary school apart from the head teacher.

It's easy to spell which is good as we have a ridiculous surname.

She was able to write and spell it fairly early.

And best of all it sounds so similar to mummy that mummy was her first word.

What is not to like?

FallenIvy · 07/10/2018 19:11

Beautiful name.

AppleScoop · 07/10/2018 20:08

I know a 7 year old Emma. I accept the name is considered a classic but, in my view, it's very bland.
