I think Emma Esther sounds fine. Both are lovely classic names, and I like the alliteration.

EmmaJR1 · 07/10/2018 20:08

😆 thanks everyone! Obviously I love it it's my name. I'm often told it's timeless so that's a compliment.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 07/10/2018 21:56

Emma is ok, nothing amazing though. Safe and pleasant and fits any age.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 07/10/2018 21:58

Emma Esther sounds like a malfunction somewhere in the body. I wouldn't put the two together.

ReginaPhalange89 · 07/10/2018 22:21

I love Emma ! Lovely, classic name

DramaAlpaca · 07/10/2018 23:05

I adore Emma, it's my favourite name.

I don't think Emma Esther flows very well though.

KriswithaK · 08/10/2018 07:42

Emma Estelle to those saying Esther doesn’t flow?

Cbeebiesrehab · 08/10/2018 08:10

It’s a nice enough name but I do find it very blah. Reminds me of the 90s so has a Sarah, Hannah, Katie vibe to me

GinIsIn · 08/10/2018 08:15

It’s quite boring but not terrible. Emma Esther doesn’t work at all though - it’s really clunky. Esther Emma is ok? Or Emma something else?

jadeywadeyyox · 08/10/2018 13:00

I loovveeee the name Emma. It was always my go to girls name, but my partner doesn't like it because its too 'plain'. Pfft he can talk, he's called Chris!!
But I think it's so beautiful and elegant and goes with any surname! ☺

It’s true, there have always been other Emmas in my year (born in the 1980s). It was a bit annoying but I do still like my name. It travels well and it’s a classic. It’s also less common now.

Kokeshi123 · 08/10/2018 13:17

It's a bit meh for me (everyone was called Emma, growing up), but there is nothing "wrong" with it. But Emma Esther really doesn't flow that well. Something a bit frilly like Rosalind or Josephine would be nicer for a MN.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 08/10/2018 13:27

Emma Elisabeth goes better imo.

dementedpixie · 08/10/2018 13:39

I have an Emma Elizabeth

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 08/10/2018 13:41

Good taste Pixie Wink

dannydyerismydad · 08/10/2018 13:47

I love the name. But I've never yet met a real life emma who hasn't been confrontational!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 08/10/2018 13:52

I know a few Emma's that are all nice but can't say the same for Maggie. I know 3 absolute horrors!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/10/2018 15:34

Classic elegant but a tad meh

AliasGrape · 08/10/2018 15:44

I was always one of about 4 Emmas in the class growing up.

But I’ve taught Primary/Early Years for 13 years now and only ever taught 2 Emmas, and both of those were 5+ years ago, so I wouldn’t say it was particularly common now at least where I live.

0neangrydwarf · 08/10/2018 18:24

Love Emma. Our DS, now 7, would have been this. Classic name that's currently underused.

Not sure about the alliteration or flow with Esther though.

holasoydora · 08/10/2018 19:33

I love it. A family name dating way back. It's a classic.

ImNotBusyImLazy · 09/10/2018 09:20

I have a 2.5 year old Emma so obviously love the name. I think it is a timeless classic. She has no other Emmas her age in our circle of friends/daycare, etc.

Is Esther a family name? I wouldn't worry about comments saying that it doesn't flow well. How many times do you say a full name together? Like once, when announcing the birth! Our Emma also has an "E" middle name, after a grandmother. It doesn't necessarily flow together, but honestly she introduces herself as Emma, not Emma E...
