I have always loved Ada but husband says it's too popular.... Came across merryn and I really like that.. And so does he.
What do you guys think?

I think Merryn is a lovely name.

I think Ada is rather dull

birthdayparty · 06/10/2018 19:16

Merryn is nicer than Ada although I'd spell it Meryn!

weebarra · 06/10/2018 19:18

I love them both.

bridgetreilly · 06/10/2018 19:18

Ada. I don't think it's dull or particularly popular.

I don't like Merryn. What about Merewyn or Meredith?

Nightlights · 06/10/2018 19:19

My favourite name, lovely

megletthesecond · 06/10/2018 19:20

Merryn.

Floyella · 06/10/2018 19:20

Merryn! It's lovely, but not too cutesy.

NameChange30 · 06/10/2018 19:21

Ada is too popular? What’s the ranking? I’d be very surprised if it’s top 20. I would avoid top 10 personally but I also think that names are popular for a reason - they’re nice names!

I love Ada and dislike Merryn but if you both like Merryn I think you should use it, it’s important that you both like the name - much more important than the opinions of strangers.

AntsMarching · 06/10/2018 19:22

Merryn

Savvyandchips · 06/10/2018 19:23

Ada! Absolutely beautiful. Not keen on the other one...plus I've never come across an ada so not sure it's that popular?!

Peachbubble · 06/10/2018 19:23

Definitely prefer Merryn over Ada.

Haworthia · 06/10/2018 19:26

Ha, I remember the days when Ada was only just inside the top 2000 names and the MN consensus was that it was fugly.

It’s just outside the top 100 now. Merryn will almost certainly be rarer. But it’s not all about rarity, obviously.

Sophronia · 06/10/2018 19:33

I like both. The Merryn I know is a boy, though.

BretonStripe · 06/10/2018 19:35

I'd go with Hmnn, has a ring to it Wink

RiverTam · 06/10/2018 19:36

Merryn, love it.

missmouse101 · 06/10/2018 19:37

Ada? Really terrible! Not popular surely? Ava is popular. Merryn is much nicer.

PippilottaLongstocking · 06/10/2018 19:43

Merryn is lovely. I prefer Ida to Ada though

ReginaPhalange89 · 06/10/2018 19:53

Never really heard Merryn, prefer Mirren!

I love Ada though, don't think it's too popular. I don't know any

Eleanor90 · 06/10/2018 19:57

Merryn is fantastic!

smorgasborgen · 06/10/2018 20:09

Thank you every one! I think he was using the excuse of him perceiving it t b popular because he doesn't really like it....
Mer-in is pretty I think and rarer.. Which I care about but no idea why!!

Merryn is fab

RavenWings · 06/10/2018 21:14

I'd go for Merryn.

Ada is too similar to Eva/Ava, they all blend together. Eva and Ava are deathly dull, unimaginative and overused so that's a no from me.

RavenWings · 06/10/2018 21:15

Although I do love Adalind, so I'd probably use that and shorten to Ada. Adelaide or Addison would be possibilities too.

Glumglowworm · 06/10/2018 21:57

Merryn is lovely! I’m not keen on Ada

Redboxonwheels · 06/10/2018 22:04

Ada is a grim old lady name from early 20th century.
My Nan was an Ada.

Merryn is fresh and beautiful.
