Have you ever liked the name OP? In what way are you suffering?

Aprilislonggone · 30/09/2018 20:44

What is the name op?

oplum · 30/09/2018 20:44

I do feel like it's a bit unreasonable to change a 7 months old name.
In what way are you suffering? How long have you regretted your name choice?

Petalflowers · 30/09/2018 20:45

Can you use a nn you prefer?

Why do no longer like it?

daisypond · 30/09/2018 20:47

Can you explain more? How did you end up choosing the name?

Ellynewmum · 30/09/2018 21:52

In my experience, emotions, mixed feelings, fear or guilt can be amplified after birth

what are your thoughts in regards to the name?

Rebellia · 30/09/2018 22:12

If your husband doesn't want to, then you can't. End of.

How can your feelings about a name you chose 7 months ago have changed so much?

ConsiderHerWaysAndOthers · 30/09/2018 22:14

I don’t think you can if your DH doesn’t agree... and at 7 months baby will be starting to learn their name. Is there a logical nickname that you like and could use instead?

VickiK1 · 02/10/2018 08:52

OP - me too, I'm seriously considering it. It's not even an out there name it top 20 classic but I'm finding the a mouthful and don't like nicknames

lululloveslemons · 02/10/2018 09:09

Following as I feel the same way too although my little one is only few weeks old. I've been told this can be a sign of PND so I'm not doing anything about it yet in case these feelings go away x

Thurlow · 02/10/2018 09:18

Can you explain what your issue with the name is?

VickiK1 · 02/10/2018 09:36

Lulu - everyone thinks I'm crazy , I don't have PND the name just doesn't feel right !

SemperIdem · 02/10/2018 17:42

What is the name? I think it is unreasonable to change a child’s name, really.

twiglet · 02/10/2018 17:47

I think it depends on what the name is to if its acceptable to change it. If its completely out there and you think it might hinder them then maybe examine further with your OH.

ApolloandDaphne · 02/10/2018 17:49

Have you name changed OP? Is Lulu the name?

bridgetreilly · 02/10/2018 17:50

There is no perfect name out there (just as there are no perfect mothers!) Whatever your daughter is called, you have not let her down. She will be fine.

physicskate · 02/10/2018 22:24

I was never called my awful first name (which my dad made up). When kids at school found out about it. I was teased no end. I was always called by a non of my middle name and legally changed it to that when I married.

My parents both regret what they named me and called me by my middle name almost exclusively from 9 days old...

lululloveslemons · 03/10/2018 07:22

Apollo - no I'm not the OP just have a similar name. Lulu isn't the name I regret (just my nickname!)

Loubell21 · 06/10/2018 22:30

I never really liked it. I had a horrific pregnancy and birth. I just went for it every time I say the name i feel great sadness that it doesn't suit her. If been to drs I haven't got pnd so it is name regret

Is there any way you could do it gradually?
Say from Chantal beginnto recer to her as Chantalia, then drop the first part and call herTalia

notimaginingit · 06/10/2018 22:40

Am on phone and have had wine hence the dog’s breakfast that was my last post.
Is there any chance you do it gradually, was what I was trying to say Smile

notimaginingit · 06/10/2018 22:44

In time he will forget the embarrassment he felt at admitting a mistake and changing her name.
Whereas it sounds you will not grow out of this feeling of regret.

Above I was trying to say: first Chantal, then for few months transitional name ofChantalia, then eventually Talia

So if her name is now for example Tracy, transitional name if Trasana, then Anna.

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 06/10/2018 22:48

Does she have a middle name that you prefer? Any good nicknames?

I changed DD’s name and felt so much better immediately.

Loubell21 · 06/10/2018 22:53

I can't believe I'm in this mess. I am very angry at myself butnitnis ruining my time with my daughter. Instead of enjoying her I'm crying all the time filled with remorse. I genuinely hate it. That is a gd suggestion to gradually change it with nicknames. I'm not sure of people's reactions and in a way I am scared of it myself
