Ladies,

thanks again for all your answers about Esther, very helpful!

I wonder, did it actually make it to final choice for any of you or any friends?

Thanks!!!

My daughters name is similar to Esther.. And I know of another new baby called Esther. Its also the name of my daughters doctor! I've know quite a few over time. It's a lovely name ❤️❤️❤️

lottiegarbanzo · 30/09/2018 13:50

I think of Esther as a 'constant classic', one that's never been hugely popular but never gone away either. I know Esthers in their 30s and 40s, so don't think of it as 'old lady' at all, just a normal name.

(I really don't like Eileen, which does sound, to my English ear, like an older-lady name that had a blip of popularity and will not be returning - like Doris, Doreen or Vera - but that's another question).

lottiegarbanzo · 30/09/2018 13:53

Oh also, I was thinking about the E E initials. So long as your surname doesn't start with Z, I think you're ok. EE Zee would not be a combination I'd choose (and yes I say Zed but other people don't).

MikeUniformMike · 30/09/2018 13:57

I like it and I like Eileen, but am not sure if they go together.

Ellynewmum · 30/09/2018 14:27

Thank you! ♡

the initials are EEP

I do know ppl that say Zee as well :)

Shell be mainly EP though...
EEP on passport..

Thanks

McVey.

ZebraKid71 · 30/09/2018 20:44

I love it, I know several - a baby, a toddler, a 15 year old, a 31 year old and a 50something.not old lady to me at all. X

LusaCole · 30/09/2018 20:45

Love Esther.

n0ne · 30/09/2018 21:31

Esther is a really beautiful name. I think Eileen won't be popular on here but I like it. I don't find the repeated initial problematic, personally.

Sungura · 30/09/2018 21:41

Esther Eileen has a nice rhythm. I like it.

Growingboys · 30/09/2018 21:44

Don't like it I'm afraid

motortroll · 30/09/2018 21:48

I have a 9 year old Esther. Love it! The only one in her whole school so uncommon without being odd!! I know an Esther at work too. Both she and my daughter are wonderful, unique, quirky and kind! If you use it there's s lot to live up to!! Xxx

Ellynewmum · 30/09/2018 22:04

:) thanks for all the additional comments!!

@motortroll: that's fantastic!
Can I ask what does your 9yo Esther think of her name, if she has shared and comments or feeling with you?
It's super cool in my view to be the only one in school with that name

Thanks!!

She likes it. She likes to be different but in an understated way so it's perfect for her. She has said she is glad it's not a stupid name or boring or the same as others. She's a very tall and strapping girl (bigger than my 11year old!!) so a strong traditional name has worked out well!

She doesn't like it when we call her Esther Pester though lol and she's a bit sad she's not named after anyone! Her middle name is Faith cos I like it but never would use it as a first name as I work in schools and it seems to be favoured by "undesirables!"

She has two siblings called Frances and Josephine (you have to consider name pairings too Wink)

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 30/09/2018 22:24

Great name.

Chocolate50 · 30/09/2018 22:38

like both names, what do you mean by how will it effect school life? I think Esther is a lovely name

LemonysSnicket · 30/09/2018 23:28

Love

Ellynewmum · 01/10/2018 00:20

@motortroll great insights thank you and please thank your lovely Esther on my behalf! ♡

@Chocolate50 - in case the name was percieved as real old and ugly, I wouldn't want my baby to be teaser or made fun of, for something and didnt choose..
