I've had this on my list for yeears - originally got the idea from the Christmas film 'Elf', the girl is called Jovie.

I think it's gorgeous for a girl but it's uncommon.
What's everyone's opinions on it?? Grin

I like it. It sounds happy.

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 29/09/2018 17:54

I prefer Jodie.

FuzzBallMushroomP · 29/09/2018 18:00

I like it!

Woffulu · 29/09/2018 18:14

I know a 12 year old girl called Jovie. It's a lovely name.

Woffulu · 29/09/2018 18:15

And I never once though Jon Bon...

Woffulu · 29/09/2018 18:15

*Thought

Whwhywhy · 29/09/2018 18:17

After the puppet in Dr Ranj?

What about Joni?

gilmoreg · 29/09/2018 18:29

@Whwhywhy That is Jobi Grin

scrivette · 29/09/2018 19:09

Bon Jovi are a great band, so nothing wrong with name her Jovi as long as you are prepared for the inevitable 'did you name her after...!'

emwithme · 29/09/2018 19:27

"No, Jovie with a v. Not Jodie with a d*"

*or "Josie with an s"

lottiegarbanzo · 29/09/2018 22:02

I think one of Dr Ranj's puppets on Get Well Soon is called Jobie.

I think of Jove, Old Testament person, male.

OTOH, despite wanting to see it as ridiculous, it does sound very happy. Like Josie.

lottiegarbanzo · 29/09/2018 22:03

I see I'm not the only person to say happy. Jovial innit.

moredoll · 29/09/2018 22:07

Don't like it at all, sorry. I prefer Josie or Jodie.

DianaBlythe · 29/09/2018 22:07

I knew a lovely Jovie, she was Malaysian. Still is hopefully!

Polkasq · 29/09/2018 22:08

Bon Jovi, By Jove, Jehovah's Witnesses.

Josie, Evie, Evangeline, Genevieve, Joely?

ZebraKid71 · 30/09/2018 21:03

There is a baby Jovi in our toddler group. I'd never heard it before but I really like it.

MarthaArthur · 30/09/2018 21:05

I instantly thought zoey in ELF too. I love it op.

Sungura · 30/09/2018 21:18

My cousin and her wife named their little girl Jovie. I think it's cute. Maybe too cute, I'm unsure. It certainly is a cheerful name.

SchnooSchnoo · 30/09/2018 22:19

I’ve heard it as a shortening of Giovanni. Probably spelt Giovi.

SchnooSchnoo · 30/09/2018 22:21

Giovanna

SemperIdem · 30/09/2018 22:31

Please keep in mind you’re naming someone who will eventually be an adult human, not an adult chihuahua.

ViserionTheDragon · 30/09/2018 22:34

Sounds a bit made up, TBH.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 30/09/2018 22:35

Too close to Juvie. Also, it is not a name.
