What are your thoughts on the name Liesel (pronounced Lee-zel) for a girl? Do you know any?

In the UK? A bit Sound Of Music for me.

It’s like a hybrid of Diesel & Lionel. Awful imo.

I went to school with a girl called Liesel, I think it's a lovely name.

But Diesel is awful.

I like it.

It rhymes with weasel, so it's a no from me.

I know a German one known as Lily, and would assume you have German/Austrian links or were a big Sound of Music fan.

Makes me think of a weasel.

DH would never let me name our baby that, he hates that movie! 😂

My ex SIL was called Liezel. Her's was 'lie-zel' not 'Lee-zel ' though. I am less keen on the Lee pronunciation.

I like it.....but I LOVE the sound of music, I would always associate the name with the film

I knew someone who was Liesl who was a South African, pronounced Lee-zel. It's an OK name!

I adore this name but would only use if I had German or Austrian links.

Love it and would use with no German/Austrian links just plain old UK background.

I know an adult one (30s?) - although she is pronounced with the stress on the second syllable which seemed unusual at first.

I don't personally love it but I wouldn't foresee any problems.
